Shoulder Mount vs Wall Pedestal Mount

Thank you! I just emailed this exact pic to my Taxidermist and told them I want it coming out of the wall with the same angle, just with the head turned slightly more to the left. I don’t think they use McKenzie forms but I’m sure they can get or fabricate something similar

If he is a good taxi he can do that 100%. My taxi has taken normal wall forms and made pedestal mounts for me out of them on species that didn't have readily available pedestal forms.

Wait this is a thing? Interesting.

Wasn’t cheap but happy I did both and doing the same thing with my Cali Ram. The replica is on the shoulder mount. The euro mount sits on a dowel and easily lifts off the base I made to get fondled a lot.

Wall peds, show a lot of shoulder and generally look great, if you don't see a form you really like your taxidermist can modify one to suit you , I do it pretty often . Usually tip the head down a little - works great for mounts on really high walls, just something to think about

Very nice; I like that a lot. My daughter drew bighorn and I could see her taking something with her to college. Good to know this is an option.

Wyo Backcountry Decor's replicas are first class. My guides and my friend who accompanied me on this hunt each have a replica to enjoy. It's a great way to honor the ram and share and and relive what, for even the luckiest of us, is probably a once in a lifetime experience.

It gives a variety to your trophies, I prefer wall pedestal for animals with extra colorful coats, bushbuck, nyala and kudu. To me it breaks up the cookie cutter look of mounts in a trophy room. Here is a wall in my memories room with a mix of wall pedestal, basic shoulder and pedestal mounts.

Pondering same close to same question myself. Except 1/2 size to match billy or pedestal over fireplace?

Following this thread as my son shot a Cali on the John Day last year and I am waiting for Wyo Backcountry to call saying they are ready for my skull and horns. It will be awesome for both of us to have a trophy from that hunt.

Still deciding on what to do with the mount on the wall (need to pick out the form when Wyo is ready to mold the horns) and had been planning on a shoulder wall pedestal with habitat but I like what @Doc Holliday is doing and @cbarg14 ’s original that he is modeling it after.

This has given me something to think about.
