PEAX DUO Headlamp Failure?

I finally broke down and bought a Peax Headlamp, I've never had issues but wanted an "upgrade". Opened it Sunday night, watched their video, and played around with it to learn all the 1,000 features. Charged the original battery, but I did purchase an extra and it failed to work or charge after the initial charge. Totally dead, neither battery works now, and it only lasted (5) hours on the initial charge. I wanted to test it to see if it's really all that.

Long story short, 24 hours after opening it has had total failure. I requested to return it for a refund as I don't trust the product at this point and that was shut down. They will only exchange it even thought it failed on Day 1. It would be hard to take it in the mountains considering it had total failure after one charge.

Anyone else had this headlamp fail? Am I being reasonable for wanting to return it rather than exchange?

Are these a rebranded version of the Sofirn headlamps that are on Amazon for $30? I have a few of those, and they have been great.

Just move on and buy a few of the Sofirns. Headlamps should not cost $100. They should be $20 and that's what the Sofirns cost. I have two of the H25LR that are flawless. Looks like the H35R is the new model though.

I can vouch for the Sofrin as well. Sometimes I really wish it had a lock to keep from turning it on in the pack but other than that I have no complains. Also you don't look like a walking billboard with the Peax logo lit up on both sides of your head when it's on.

This is good feedback guys, thanks. I had to push for them to finally offer a refund (no phone number on their site, support is highly delayed) and currently still trying to get a return label so I don't have to pay to send back a faulty product. Shouldn't be an issue IMO, I had it in my possession for about 24 hours is all.

I have a cpl Sofirn, made by the same company, and have learned that I need to use the factory battery's. Extras purchased at battery+ will not work; I get a short flash of light then nothing.

Hey, just unscrew the end of your sofirn, only takes a quarter-half turn. Wont come on and simple.

Love my sofirns.

I picked up some battery’s from 18650.com that work great in my lights. They last longer too.

It sounds like you may have just got a lemon. I have had mine for a few years now and it is still charging normally and working well.

If you can get the refund, great. If not, take another lamp. They’re popular, and don’t hear about many problems. You already paid for it.

That said, I’m a Sofirn guy too. Works great and cheap. Truly a piece of gear that’s hard to believe how good it is for so little money

Did you try the push and hold the power button to unlock it?

I thought mine was a turd also on day one. turns out I locked it before I knew of the feature.

If you push and hold the power button until it flashes, that indicates locked/unlocked.

had a similar situation with the Peax headlamp. It would not charge at all. I returned it then went back to my old Black Diamond. I had high hopes for the Peax but didn’t want to risk using one after that initial experience.
