I emailed them, they don’t sell replacement legs if you break one. However, it is covered under a 2 year warranty. If you break the trekking pole legs after 2 years you’ll just have to buy a new one? Pretty much what the cust service rep told me.

Yea, that’s reasonable I guess. I can’t really imagine using the legs very often as a primary trekking pole. I’m curious how nice the head will be, I would be primarily putting a sts-80 on it. I imagine if you can shoot off of it my spotter should atleast be usable. I need to give them a call.

I just placed an order for one, I’ll report back when it comes in. It’s the right size legs to replace my Slik 634. I’m just worried about the head with my spotter on it. We’ll see. I can’t believe no one else has tried one yet.

Mine will be here Thursday. It’s my first one though so my thoughts on it won’t be in comparison to anything else I’ve ever had.

Got mine in today, only had time to mess with it in the back yard so far. It will be replacing my 634/va-5 combo and it appears to be able to do the job at a lighter weight. I think the peak head actually controls my sts-80 better than my va-5 and it doesn’t want to fight you like the va-5.

It holds my Xlr tikka and the integrated ball is able to level it easily. With a rear rest I would absolutely use it to take a reasonable shot.

I’ll get some shots at the range using it at some point. And while this won’t be its main job, having the ability to shoot is a nice to have.

On flat surfaces I’m just able to stand behind it using the short center post. I’m short though and if you’re over 6’ you won’t be able to. You would be good with the long post though.

The trekking poles are kinda eh, maybe one day I’ll forget my pair and need them. I guess it’s a nice feature to have.

Interesting that you ask... Gonna be totally honest with you. I would NOT buy this tripod EVER again. The tripod itself isn't terrible, I actually thought it worked decently well but its the customer service / support that I received from Peak 44 after i had an issue is the problem.

While out hunting, I somehow lost the bottom section of one of the legs. It was there when I started my pack out and was gone when I got back to the truck. I looked and looked for it but never found it. Luckily it was on one the "trekking pole" sections so I figure it would be easily replaceable so I reached out to Peak upon my return. At first things seemed to be going well, very nice phone conversation with a guy there that said he would have to check on this for me and ultimately asked for my email to get back with me.

The next day I was greeted with an email that basically said, no spare parts are available, no time frame and uncertain that parts would ever be available, no product returns he could find laying around that he could grab a part from. Even made a remark that one of the VP's there had the same issue happen to him this year. Offered me a 10% coupon..... That was it. I emailed him back expressing my discontent about being offered a 10% off coupon to purchase another unit that has zero replacement parts with no future support of replacement parts, I mean we are talking about something they "market" to have removable legs to be used as "trekking poles" afterall??? I have been emailing every week since asking about potential updates to their product returns that might yield a leg section, those emails have all been ignored.

To anyone thinking about their tripod or anything else they sell, just be aware of the potential issues with repair/replacement parts as well as the overall customer service that they seem offer over there.

How are you liking the tripod?

The tripod over all i really like, the head is good. Hits a pretty good sweet spot for size weight and stability. Supports my sts-80 spotter well. Feel comfortable shooting to about 300ish yards with trekking poles as a rear support. Honestly it’s really stable shooting that way. I would not shoot off the tripod alone I don’t think. Well not very far anyway. Im not an expert at it either. Probably could be done though. The built in ball head is actually pretty nice, locks up tight and can be used to easily push your glass closer for a more comfortable position.

I do not like what is being talked about with the customer service/support. That kind of worries me. I think they are really dropping the ball on this as the tripod has great potential for backcountry use. It’s a pretty big chunk of money to not have any replacement parts.
