Peak 44 rifle stocks

I have one in my basket as I type. 700 LA for a new 338-06 AI build. It will also be fitted later with the same contour 257 Rob AI for Deer. My thoughts are how will this stock handle the recoil of heavy 338 loads using 225 and 250 grain bullets, and hold optimum accuracy.

The 338 will wear a 22" barrel and light weight is my goal with a standard Hart ADL barrel contour. It has been my experience in the past, recoil, light weight and accuracy are all trade offs. I'm hoping this setup with the recoil system will negate some of the accuracy negatives usually encountered with lighter platforms?

It will handle it fine. We’ve done 338 Lapua on the blacktooth as well as 338 mega. An 06 case will be no problems

Which one? The blacktooth is halfway between a traditional stock and a vertical grip I would say. The bastion is pretty much vertical

Yeah the Blacktooth Stock. I have a Christensen Arms Ridgeline FFT and love the carbon fiber stock but wish it had a little more vertical grip but not all vertical. I’ve been on the hunt for a stock that is a sporter style with a decent negative comb and a little more vertical grip without being a complete vertical

It’s probably what you are looking for, it’s an improvement over the Christensen sporter stocks in that regard and a nice hybrid between a sporter and vertical grip. I have had both and much prefer the blacktooth for the same reason.

Taking recoil is nothing, I am immune to recoil, long or handgun, I've had the wildest and baddest over my 70 years of hunting. I am referring to accuracy! I don't need 475 Linebaugh's for whitetail, but I like em over tamer 45 colt or 44 mags, and 5.5" stomping mules over tamer 7.5" heavier tamer options.

I expect this gun to shoot 1/2MOA out to 400 yards, this is what makes it relevant. It is like a 300 mag at 1000 yards, it will kick a 6ppc off the range, but at 200 yards wouldn't place in a field of 50 shooters. My concern is how light without sacrificing 1/2 moa accuracy. % shots at that. If I can't and keep it under 7.5 lbs, then I might as well build a 280 AI, and 358 winchester for short range dangerous game.

The 338-06 was a thought to keep it to just one gun. But it has to be capable of anal accuracy, or I'll choose other options. As long as this stock produces accuracy, I could care less how bad a 338 anything kicks, it wont be as bad as the 458 No 1 I loved.

I bought my Blacktooth a month before they released the Bastion. Wish I had the Bastion. What's nice about these is if you have a decently stocked Weatherby dealer near you, you can just drive over there and handle them.

It will be an improvement over the FFT stock. I replaced my FFT with the Bastion because I wanted more vertical. But would have been happy with the Blacktooth also. I have a Weatherby dealer close so I was able to handle both stocks.

The issue with the Christenson mesa/ridgeline grips isn't so much amount of verticalness but the huge distance from the grip to trigger such that its hard to get trigger finger in a good position if you're actually using the grip. You can have a stock with a vertical grip but if it's 4" from the dang trigger the benefits from being vertical are gone.

You can have a stock with a vertical grip but if it's 4" from the dang trigger the benefits from being vertical are gone.

Additionally, especially the FFT stock, they are slicker than dog crap. I had to put grip tape on mine, it helped with the tackiness, but the trigger reach was extremely uncomfortable especially when shooting prone.
