Peak 44 rifle stocks

Rokstok will be available in a light version soon fyi. Not sure what the eta is but if you call unknown I’m sure they could give you a clue.

I have both of their offerings in LH. I really like the black tooth. Very light and no issues. The hex pad seems to work as well. The Apex I have in .300wby is enjoyable to shoot. I will say that the pad seems to deform though when the rifles are stored muzzle up but return to normal after a little time. I store mine muzzle down for space saving in the safe they’re in. I would by one for restocking a rifle and likely will at some point.

Does the Black tooth have a traditional swept grip or is it a little between traditional and vertical?

Just received this from my smith today. Bastion, LP fuzion ti, 20in benchmark carbon 6cm, hawkins hunter dbm. 5.75# with the muzzle mount for my can. I like the stock. Action needs time to smoothen out and break in.

I hope my Blacktooth green and grey comes out as good as yours did! I plan on adding a light bit of tan to mine when it comes, but was only available in two colors, I too went with the green and grey. Going to go with a 24" "4 stn stl barrel, hoping for around 6.5# on mine without glass, the Leica Amplus6 3-18x44i is waiting to top it. Enjoy.

The blacktooth is a classic swept grip with a gentle palm swell, kinda like the McMillan classic hunter has. I like classic.

Have the black tooth really like it put an area 419 Arca plate and a hatch Picatinny on it works fine light and comfortable. Great customer service.

Being able to "Order" one is not the same has having it "soon".

The wait is over, and as usual I made a few modifications! First of the stock came as a brown and green camo, so I added the gray. I might add, this stock came in at 18.4 oz w/aluminum pillars and the matrix but pad installed!

the next change was the barrel, no 24", instead I not only went with 21 3/8" I also shortened as much as possible on the chamber end, as $4 sporter is as light as Brux will make a 338 barrel. All in the name well balanced, fast handling, and lightweight!

My worries about the lightweight and ability of the Blacktooth stock to deliver a user friendly accurate platform for this build was not warranted. U cannot speak the praise this stock deserves for both taking out any harsh recoil from this cartridge, as at 2850 fps from the 200 grain Hornady during fireforming and barrel break in, after fully setup with scope mounts and rings @ 7 lbs 13 oz, have less felt recoil than any 30/06 with 150 grain loads that I have ever shot!
Day 1 right side.jpg

Not sure just how accurate this will prove to be but for fireforming, just using a max 338/06 load of 58.0 grains of Varget with a 200 grain SST bullet shot 1" even a lighter load of 57.5 grains of Varget shot under 1", then to top that off I decided to shoot a 3 shot group of H4350 under a 180 grain Nosler Accubond and again, under 1" at 100 yards. these three loads were just loaded at random with light jam for fireforming, as well as sighting in. which was the lower right bull.

I even took two shots at the 200myard gong to see if POI was within my expectation for a hunting round. The first shot after the two bottom bulls were shot the 9th shot was sent down range and I purposely aimed just slightly low of center to make sure I didn't shoot over the gong the first time. I was shocked when it impacted right where I aimed. So after a good cleaning, as rain started in, I shot the next shot from the cooled squeaky clean barrel aiming at the same spot I shot with the hot dirty barrel before the rain started. As the picture shows, the same 58.0 grain load hit exactly the same place the dirty hot barrel shot hit. This is hunting accuracy in my book, and my expectations before tuning any loads for this rifle are definitely exceeded!

I am ecstatic and now with the barrel broke in, and 44 rounds fireformed and ready for load development I cant wait to see just how accurate this little rifle will shoot. But hold sensitive, it aint! It already gave me more velocity that I expected, and I have not shot a single hot round in it, nothing showing any signs of getting close to a max load yet. The 180 I shot with 59.0 grains of Varget gave me 2900 fps, and the 200's with 58.0 grains shot 2848 for a 5 shot average! I will be working on a 225 accubond load in 338/06 ackley brass soon, hopefully under 3/4 moa and around 2800 fps? we will see!

Did you bed the recoil lug?

That looks great. What did you use for the grey and what was your paint process?
Thank you, the two colors didn't get it for me, and two color options in a few choices of color is they offer on their order form, so like usual if you want it your way, you have to do it yourself. Rustoleum industrial spray paint. I sprayed it into container, and used natural sponge to swab it up and blot on the stock.
Did you bed the recoil lug?
Yes I used the Peak 44 bedding kit to skim coat the bedding surface and recoil lug area.

You didn’t add a clear coat over it?

Made the mistake of checking out a Bastion in person today... felt great. It's everything the factory tikka stock isn't. I haven't felt a rokstock yet and can't comment on Bastion's feel under recoil, but going to be really hard not to go the peak44 route.

I see no need with the Industrial paint I used, It is very durable and not latex based. Besides if it ever would need touched up, I did that job in about 2 minutes. I doubt it will ever scratch or wear, they use it for industrial machinery with no clear coat, and it lasts. I wouldn't Risk a glossier finish on this hunting stock.

What do you like more about the Blacktooth?

I’ve got a little bit of experience with them. My absolute favorite stocks. What questions do you have about them?

Which do you like more: Blacktooth or Bastion? Have you used an AllTerra Carbon Tikka? McMillan? I’m a lefty as well and options are rather limited. I also bought a Roughtech (slightly bigger barrel contour), so options are even more limited…

I’ve had them all. Alterra, manners, McMillan you name it. I prefer the blacktooth personally but the bastion is nice as well
