Hey fellow short guys. I'm looking to buy a pair of lightweight, side vented, dwr coated pants for archery elk here in colorado. I'm willing to buy from one of the "fancy" hunting brands, as I've had plenty of cheaper pants that were ok until they weren't. I'd like a pair with a good lifetime warranty (pnuma, skre, kuiu, etc) and i understand that all those warranties are based on me having realistic expectations. Anyway, what brands have you found that have pants that are 31-32" waist and 28-29" inseam? I'm striking out on the inseam part. Alternatively, if there is a brand that would still honor the warranty on the rest of the pants even if I hem them, that works too. Bonus if they are solid color. Thanks!

Clarification before anyone jumps down my throat. I don't plan to return pants that wore out, or that I dragged along a sharp rock and tore. But I've had issues with pants having stitching come out in the first year or so, which is a result of a defect. So I would like to be able to get that kind of thing fixed

I like Kuhl pants a lot. I don't think they have side vents. They're not always in stock with 28-29" inseams but they do come around here and there. Currently not a lot available. Need to keep an eye on them.

I’m the same size as you. I haven’t found the answer either. I’ve gone with the Kutana short inseam, Prana Zion short inseam, Fjallraven Keb Agile short inseam. They are still a little long but I just live with it. Still on the hunt though. Definitely the foreign brands/cuts are a solution.

Kuiu told me I could hem the pants and they would back the warranty as long as it isn’t caused by the hem. I personally won’t buy their pants that I have to alter though. I did buy guide and Yukon pants that are regular inseam but the length doesn’t bother me hunting I just won’t buy them for more of an everyday item.

Prana Zions come in 28" inseams. The current model is the original model. Just dont buy the Zion IIs. I just got a pair of Outdoor Vitals Satu. Ive only worn them a few times but they are similar to the Pranas and also come in 28" inseam.

I have Attacks and Kutanas in the short length, hemmed to about 29. Attacks are a on the warmer side for archery elk. Kutanas are durable, easy to hem. But if you have large calves they might be a bit tight.

Id take the Pranas all day with the Kutanas a close 2nd. Time will tell on the Satu's.

That's good to know. I think their new kutanas with the waterproof butt and lower legs would be sweet, but they don't make em short

I too like the Zions and have several pairs. I noticed the other day that there's no 28" option on their website this year, though. I'm concerned.

Another vote for Zion’s and Outdoor Vitals.

I’ve had a lot of luck with the EB guide pros, too.

I have a pair of First Lite Foundary’s that also seem to work really well in spite of it being a 30” inseam.

I would recommend the kuiu attack pants, very durable pants as well. I'm currently 5'8" , 32" waist and 30" inseam and I run the Kuiu attacks 32 short for sizing.

I hadn't thought to look at prana. Thanks!

Prana. I am a 30" inseam. I'm 5'9, which I think is the average height of males in the USA. Seems like companies would make pants that fit the average size male. Maybe the average size male hunter in the US is 5'11?

The problem with hemming these kinds of pants is that they almost always have pleated knees, or articulating knees, as the marketing speak refers to them. If the articulated knee is 3 or 4 inches below the bend of your knee, it is still going to be that far below the bend of your knee after you hem them. I'm not buying any more pants that need to be hemmed.

Kings has some shorter inseam pants. I don't have any, but I have looked on their website. Seems like I remember their short being 29".
