Appreciate that. Hunted the Panhandle zone last year. Of the 3 units in the Palouse zone do you recommend one over the other? Any contacts for private land? Anything helps.

If you don’t already have access in 11a it pretty much rules that unit out. 90 something percent private and those farmers don’t give it up easily if at all. Leaves you with 8 and 8a.

Understood. Thank you. I'm 68 and alone on this hunt so I may look for a guide. Know anything about Shattuck or have any recommendations? If you ever need help in Nevada let me know.

Non resident? If so I’d watch turned in tags and try to swap before the season; should be panhandle ones available

I’ve hunted it a lot; truthfully a really tough area. Elk numbers aren’t great and pressure is fairly high.

Thanks. I hunted the Panhandle last year. Didn't see or hear an elk all of September. Got a cow in December with muzzleloader. Only saw one other elk the whole time (the one with the cow). Know of any good guides in the Palouse?

I hunted Palouse last year and killed a bull. No packers but there are a lot of logging roads and 4 wheeler trails if you can get your meat to one I'm sure you could find another hunter in the area to help you out for some cash or intel if you are on foot. Found a butcher that let me put meat in his freezer so that helped.

Idaho Whitetail Guides is a good outfit. Give them a call. If you don't know the area and don't have time to scout it will be tough.

Congrats. Sounds like a good hunt. I will look around
