Ooh! Can you expand on how to add cheek riser to the factory 783 stock like that?
I'd really like to add something like that to at least two of my rifles.
A 783, and a Savage 93R17.

Here is a thread on this particular cheek riser. It was very easy to install. If you have questions, feel free to PM me.Ooh! Can you expand on how to add cheek riser to the factory 783 stock like that?

Probably 80% of the tan coloring is khaki and the rest was sand randomly blended in. The sand is a little bright for my tastesDo you remember if you used khaki or sand for the tan tone?
I’ve used both Krylon and rustoleum on many stocks without any issue. I like to use a flat or a matte paint and also a flat or matte finish. If you take your time with a good, quality prep(sanding and wiping with acetone). Your paint will bond well. Once I like the look of the finish paint, I will spray 5-7 coats of clear. Some of my stocks have been though a lot and have held up great. Is there any special type of paint and clear coat that should be used for durability?
@MTGunnerUsed Rustoleum Desert Bisque sand texture spray paint. it is recommended to use a Krylon primer prior to final Rustoleum paint.
Personally I don't use a clear coat. Ever.Is there any special type of paint and clear coat that should be used for durability?
Hrmm... Seems like there's Kydex ones, then the kind this link spoke about. Here is a thread on this particular cheek riser. It was very easy to install. If you have questions, feel free to PM me.
Cheek riser bargain.
Quick heads up (pun intended) I just found these & they seem like a hell of a deal if you're wanting to avoid kydex. I just ordered 2. https://www.ebay.com/itm/145494600411?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0&ssspo=gnSuERNoRVu&sssrc=4429486&ssuid=iDuv8uDWSwO&var=&widget_ver=artemis&media=COPYrokslide.com
That came out great! Did you scuff up the stock first or just degrease it?Simple single color on a Stockys VG for a Howa mini. Original bare carbon was way too glossy.
Sponge and several coats of matte clear coat looked much better.

I'm struggling to decide what colors/scheme to go on my Weatherby stock, I'm not a fan of the factory job. Looking for suggestions and opinions! I'm thinking a chocolate brownish but not sure how that will match with the barrel.
