I want to rid myself of some pest animals, feral cats and such, Now I want to make what ever I plan to discourage from coming into my yard. I would like semi auto and refillable air tanks, I am hoping to avoid CO2 cartridges unless they will get me 500 or so rounds. any thoughts ?

A 22 would do much better to keep away pests/ferals.

The refillable co2 paintball tanks will get you 500 or so shots. Only a few bucks to refill.

A good old tippman A5 with a 20 oz CO2 tank and 200 round loaders and you'll be good.

Getting hit by a paintball is no joke. I could easily see one breaking cat ribs or other bones. Then you could be possibly dealing with injured critters hanging around. More humane to just pop them in the head with a pellet rifle.

If you leave the co2 canister attached, you'll likely blow o-rings, especially if the bottle is horizontal or upside down.

Ported barrel really helps with accuracy. Cheap paintballs are terribly inaccurate. Paintballs go bad after some time and will stick to each other and deform if too hot/ high moisture. Good paintballs, at least 20 years ago when I played, were very expensive.

The other posters are right. Just use a .22.
