Yes, another Glock 20 question. Ive gotten somewhat dizzy reading threads and understanding thoughts and opinions are still all over the place, I still think the knowledge base here offers a good sanity check.

Was just “going looking” today but the local guys offered me a new gen4 for a nice deal, so I went ahead and grabbed it. ( I previously had a 20SF, and for reasons unknown to even my I got rid of it a while back.) Added to the range ammo stash so I can run some through it, and he had double tap 200g on the shelf so I grabbed a box of that as well so I can see how she feeds once loosened up and ran for a bit.

Considering the following:
- Bear defense
- I do not reload (even 10mm)
- I absolutely do not want to modify the gun unless it’s a safety issue
- Will run in a chest rig under bino harness
- Reliability when the trigger is squeezed is my concern
- Want a light

Ammo - any real downfalls of the DT 200 hard cast? Seems to be a common selection and I have no personal boundaries on acceptable speeds, etc. other than reliability.

I see KKM barrels are popular drop ins, but again - with only factory ammo I’m trying to avoid mods.

I like the Kenai chest rig from GFI, but not seeing a light option and I really like the buckle delete option that Hoskins offers. Probably going that route.

I test fit and looked at the TLR-7 while at the shop. It *seems* 500 lumens is sufficient to light up a threat without muzzling it, but I don’t normally run lights. I absolutely love the compactness and weight of the 7, but if it isn’t effective enough then it’s useless. Big question for me here.

Lastly, sights. Worth A swap? Seems natural if I’m going to run a light, but unsure here as well.

You are on the right track leaving your Glock 20 stock with the exception of sights and a light. Some will have other ideas but my experience is that a stock Glock is more reliable and will shoot hardcast bullets with no issue.

My 3 Glock 19s and my Glock 34 have TLR 7s and holsters that accommodate. My GLock 20sf has an Olight with a Razco holster that hangs under my bino harness. I also have a Kenai chest rig that I rarely use anymore but was a quality item. All of my Glocks have Sevigny fiber optic sights with the exception of a tritium front on my Glock 26.

Good Luck

Love my G20 and all others! Run like a Timex and eat everything. I reload for my 10MM and it has night sights. I carry it under my bino harness as well and can't think of a better rig for the woods. I have a 10MM 1911 as well but the Glock goes out. I am loading Blue Dot with coated 200gr hard cast.

Thanks to all, mostly just for the sanity check that I’m on the right path and the sight recommendations. 👍🏻

My G20 is stock and shoots 200gr Underwood hardcast fine. The gun just works.......I pull the trigger, it shoots, and it hits where it's aimed. I do carry an alternating loaded mag during hunting season (i.e. alternate hardcast and XTP's).

awesome. That’s why I bought the Glock. It just does that. I’d much rather shoot my 1911, but I may as well carry a rifle.

Funny you mentioned alternating XTP’s. I had that thought as well, seems like a wise idea if your POI is that same in a given gun. 👍🏻
