Well looks like another state is changing up their ELK application system.
I know it’s PA and they only give out a dozen or so non-res tags 😂
But sounds like residents started complaining once non-res allocation hit 11% and it’s now limited to 10%
Big change is that to even apply now non-res has to buy a hunting license (about $100). So for the astronomical 0.001% chance to pull an elk tag now it’ll cost about $115-120 to apply?

Now CO residents need band together and limit CO elk/deer tags down to 10%
-to be in line with other western states like this article states 😂

Sounds about right with plenty of other states. I applied to several states for sheep last year and plenty are around $100 license (or more) just to apply.

And it’ll be a once a lifetime BULL tag. Hunters can get lucky to draw multiple cow tags tho.

I'm a PA guy and although I'm used to paying out the Butt to hunt out west I'm not a fan of this.
Just out of curiosity what makes you not a fan? I've been hoping they made this change for years along with the increase in fees that a non res has to pay. With all the extra fees I have to fork over every year in the west its nice to have my residency actually give me an advantage for once. I'm also a fan of their proposal to limit a bull tag to once in a lifetime.

I am in full support of it as well, why not when all other states limit the nonresidents? $250 for a nonresident elk tag is a steal and should be increased as well.

I think license regulations should be reciprocal. If you live in a state like Michigan where you do not even allow nonresident to apply then you should not be allowed to apply here. If you live in a state where my elk license cost me $1000 then that should be the price of yours if you’re lucky enough to draw a license in Pennsylvania.

We don’t have much to offer in the way of licenses, but we do have world-class bulls. For the majority of my life I have listened to residents out west tell me if you want to hunt here and you don’t like the system feel free to move here. Touché.

There was never a cap on non resident tags. Theoretically they all could’ve went to non residents.
