These odds are about as bad as i thought but it sounds like i need to start getting my sons points starting next year. Do they have to have a hunting license to start getting points? My oldest is 14 and just got his NY hunter course done and has a license but my youngest at 11 has not yet

How long do people usually put in for to get picked for this you guys think?

I got a cow tag on my second year but that was dumb luck. Probably never happen again. But, with these new seasons everyone that gets in early will always be maxed out.

I'm not positive about non-resident but this was the first year I could buy points for either of my kids. Had to wait until they were old enough for a junior license (12) as opposed to mentored youth permits. I started the daughter this year and the son next year. I've got 3 points; combined odds in 5 or 6 years should be pretty good
