Here we take a look at this fantastic mid layer by Sitka. With plenty of functionality and warmth this makes a great addition to anyone's arsenal. If you need Sitka Help or want to check our current specials feel free to pm or call 336.564.2400 or email [email protected]

Good vid Eric. Best overview on The Fanatic I’ve seen. Anyone thinking on the is piece should watch. The built-in mitts look very functional too. The temp rating suggestions are helpful.

there isn't much difference at all between the fanatic hoody and the heavy weight core hoody.
the mitts and the face mask and the pocket in the front.. of you want those features get the fanatic of not get the heavy core hoody.
I bet I have 60-80 days wearing both those pieces

Core heavyweight just arrived, no face mask, so am exchanging it for a Fanatic or Traverse.

Holy necro-post, Batman.

Reviving this thread. Just bought a fanatic hoody to replace an aging Patagonia R1 fleece. So far very impressed.

Wish they made this baby in Subalpine or dirt.

They do have some solid ones. I know black and and green one. Seems odd they wouldn't have dirt also. I got an EV2 one on backorder. Gonna use it for whitetail mainly but bring on the elk hunts. I'm sure they won't mind that it's not subalpine

Does Sitka have any sales in summer? Or are we pretty much stuck paying sticker till after season?

I have seen some price cuts. $itka has them for $132. $112 other places. I picked up one in black for $99 from Scheels.

I like this thing a lot but the $189 price tag is a bit of a bummer.

Not to pimp this piece too much but I do like it and hadn’t paid it much attention because I don’t own anything in the Sitka whitetail line.

The bean outdoors video on this is great.

This is one of those products where I think the sitka website doesn’t quite do it justice.

- hoody fleece
- deep zip for venting with offset opening at top.
- Grid mapped fleece is heavier in the front back and shoulders and lighter on the - flanks and down the inside of the arms.
- kangaroo pocket doubles the fleece on the front abdomen.
- Built in face mask of light material
- the cuffs are interesting. They have thumb holes but also built in mitten type covers too.
- In terms of weight and feel it is thicker than a core heavy weight hoody, maybe a bit more than a traverse zip t, same as a Patagonia r1 or a first lite halstead. Not as thick as a traverse hoody.
- warmth is still tbd but I expect this to be in line with a halstead or R1 and function as mostly a midlayer.

Pics below highlight some of these features. After a few exercise sessions, I like this piece a lot. The mittens are a nice add. I like the kangaroo pocket but feel like it is going to be underneath a hip belt or an outer layer more often than not so not clear how much it will be used while hunting. As a casual garment it is a welcome touch.

As I mentioned above, I Ike the black but would buy another In subalpine if they could do the grid fleece. I would probably settle for something in dirt too.

I bought one this fall. Its warmer than I thought it would be. I do like it for sure. Great for layering and will be in my pack as an emergency layer when I am not wearing it. It will be part of my snowmobiling layer as well!

I hated it, those stupid mitts were awful. Could not put anything on over it without it being extremely tight on my wrist and lower forearms.
