Over Priced Things That Shouldn't Be?

Hell yes! Don't have the guitar anymore, but still have that strap! A red splatter Earth III! I was playing through a Crate G-60GT.

The singer is the late Lizzy Dean Holyfield. He was in the Baltimore band Great Mutant Skywheel - but that was much later than this. A good guy.
Hell yeah brother!

Damn mortgage rates. I was about to refinance, then we went to war and the interest rates are back up 0.4% in 5 weeks. So frustrating.
I bought at 8% in 2000 and thought it was a good rate. Refied at 6% and at 3%.

if you can’t buy at 6-8%, the prices are too high. Interest rates were never gonna stay at 3%.

Restaurant tips. I supported the local restaurant staff during the covid scam but now 18-25% is the expected norm regardless of the service. And this on top of the price of going out to eat doubling. 10% used to be the norm and 15% for exceptional service.

Suppressors. Over $1000 for something 3D printed or machined with zero moving parts.
I haven't heard any reviews yet, but somehow Lyman came out this year with a full line of suppressor all for under $300.

Time will tell how they perform I guess.

If I understand correctly the suppressors are from an established company from Europe.

Guitars. It annoys me to see pretty much all USA made guitars going the boutique route. Everything being produced in Indonesia or South Korea is flooding the Everyman market leaving the good stuff in the stratosphere.

Same for Amps.

The vintage market is just stupid (ex. Klon) and is not even worth considering these days.

The vintage market has always been stupid, IMHO. "Vintage" doesn't always mean "better." I've played plenty of vintage guitars that were priced as if they had some value, yet were pretty useless for making music with.

Completely agree.

My first 4 vehicles, all in the 1990s, were square-body Chevys from 1973-1985. Love the look, love that I can work on virtually every inch of them, but they just don't hold a candle to modern reliability or durability. Even a less-reliable modern truck will go 2x the miles before major problems emerge (excepting genuine lemons or major, specific design flaws). Yet, those Chevys today are priced like they're a priceless superior design from a more civilized age.

Everything is extremely overpriced, between me and my wife, we bought in about 300k last year, no kids. Between mortgages, vehicle repairs, groceries, heating fuel etc etc we are doing fine but it not like the money is just piling up the way it would have been 5 years ago.

I’ve sold a few guns lately that I just wasn’t using, I made a fairly large profit off them and not because I was really trying to buy because prices are so high. A stainless Winchester 70 retails for like 1800.00 right now.

A quart of oil for my snowmobile is 15 bucks, I want new tires for my truck but the prices are outrageous. More and more lately I’m asking myself if I really need something or if I can make do with what I have, I havnt bought any hunting gear for awhile now because prices are so high that it just dosent make sense to sell.

I wanted to upgrade one of my flyrods for a trip coming up, wife said I need to sell the old one…fine. Well the best offer I could get for the old one was about 300.00 before shipping, it’s like 60 dollars to mail a rod and the new one is significantly more expensive…result: not upgrading my fly rod, just doesn’t add up financially.

Buy the fly rod. You might croak before next spring
