Outfitter Trend to a 4 Day Hunt - at 5 day hunt price

Wonder what everyones thoughts and experience has been with this?

I do an outfitted hunt here and there. Sometimes when its a specific species, or if its in an area that I have no chance at scouting and doing the work. Most of the hunts average around $1,000 to $1,500 bucks per day plus tip etc...most of them are 5 days hunting and had one that was 6 days hunting.

Seeing many now that are charging that and more for 4 days. Called a few and they stated it was due to the shortened season in that state and in order to get 2 hunts in, they have to drop to 4 days.

Wonder how we view the value in that and is anyone seeing this trend expand?

We have seen increased costs in every aspect of our lives. I’m not familiar with all states or where shortened seasons have occurred, but the reasoning you received from the outfitter does seem sound. If a season only allows for one hunt and their entire business is built around bringing two groups through, then they don’t really have a choice. They could run one hunt at 5 days and current pricing and make half as much money as they used to, or they can run two hunts at four days and remain whole. It does suck for the client though to lose a day.

I've noticed it for shorter hunts, used to be 3 full days now it's arrive at noon then 1 day leave by noon on the third. It's a good way to jamb as many clients in during the season. Also noticed quite a few have had very large increase in pricing. Just business I guess.

You see it in shampoo too. Same bottle, same price, new label “20% free.” Then the next month it’s same price again but smaller bottle, and no “free” on the label. Final step is bigger bottle and bigger price labeled “20% more!” They’re just trying to make it less painful, or just trying to get more bones. If you don’t like it buy a cheaper shampoo.
