If you travel out of state to hunt and that state requires residents to register all guns but you come from a state where you dont, what do you do?

I’ve never been in that situation but I always call and check on the concealed carry situation with the state police if imagine they could answer your question.

What state requires hunting rifles (I’m assuming bolt action) to be registered besides Hawaii...?

Well it’s pertaining to Hawaii and bolt action. I have a buddy that’s going to come hunt out here with me. I could call someone locally, but I bet I’d get a different answer each time I called.

Also, doesn’t California and some other states require all guns to be registered?

First, all gun laws are unconstitutional. The wife and I were going to hunt Hawaii a couple years ago but after reading into it I decided not to. I read that you’re required to “register” your firearm within an allotted time after your arrival. That’s what I read, I didn’t speak to anyone on the phone and I’m not a Hawaii expert.

I’d sure love to hunt an axis buck there someday, they’re delicious from what I’m told.

Straight off the DNR website: https://dlnr.hawaii.gov/recreation/hunting/mammal/

Registering Firearms and Ammunition: Firearms and ammunition brought into the State from outside must be registered within 48 hours after their arrival with the Chief of Police of the county of one’s residence, business, or sojourn. Contact the district police station on the appropriate island or an office of the Division of Conservation and Resources Enforcement. Minors (15 years of age and younger) who hunt using a firearm are required to obtain a permit from the county police department.

If you read through the whole thing on the website, it appears that muzzleloaders don't need to be registered, but all other firearms do.

In the past when I had a question about out of state hunting laws I sent an email with my specific question and situation. I saved the email response that way I at least had something to prove I attempted to get an answer And protect myself from that problem of getting a different answer from different people on the phone.

Can hunt axis in Texas year round. Bring your guns too.

Same here I don’t check into them for where I’m driving. Not letting a piece of paper/sticker on a door and a crazy person decide when my time is up.

First thing I would do? Mark that state off the list of places I'm going to hunt. Ain't nobody got time for that.

When I went there, the locals told me that the rule was B.S. and to just ignore it. And everyone hunting there did. Anywhere other than Oahu, I bet it won't be an issue. Forget the state mafia and go hunt.

If one must go to prison, I suppose a tropical paradise would be a better place than most.

What state are you going to that requires you to register a hunting rifle? Or are you carrying a handgun as well? If you are going to a state that requires handgun registration just leave the handgun at home.

ahhh, Hawaii..

I’m pretty sure they allow aliens to bring firearms in to the state for up to 90 days for the purpose of hunting. Would be simple to call an outfitter/guide service there in Hawaii to verify.
