Origin of the term "run"

fun thread. some of you all had me grinning.

you should poke your head into a fishing forum..those guys invent sayings...

Who cares....

Well in the outdoor marketing machine, nobody cares, because its all about monetizing a beginners lack of knowledge. So for the OMM to continue growing, they need more, and more beginners under the tent every year. Unfortunately the outdoors is a finite resource. Not many see it yet, but we've reached the point where there are more outdoorsmen, than outdoors.

But for the guys that just want to go hunting, take their kids hunting, etc, but can no longer draw a tag, the flat brim vernacular just adds insult to injury.

Puffys
Leupys
Winnys
Remys

They're all symbolic of the soyifacation, and destruction of a lifestyle thats going extinct.

Theres nothing we can do about change, but we can express our displeasure with it by busting some balls.

Its all in good fun, and a tale as old as time.

Damn few Outdoorsmen. Lots of people out in the woods.

Slang is great in moderation, just like everything else. I personally don't like slang filler words like random and like when used unnecessarily.

Funny stuff!

The one that irks me is when some guy wants to tell you about his new rifle "build". Then you find out he just mounted a scope and installed a bipod........

It seems like a lathe should be involved in a "build". But what do I know........

Based on some of the insanely good youth opportunity out there my kid will hunt way cooler animals and places then I ever will if that’s what she chooses. And every time she’s out running a rifle... I will say “Ok, send it” because it’s just damn fun to say!

The over use of this term is out of control, it’s excessive use seems to be entirely unique to the hunting community and it’s application appears to have no boundaries. No item of gear is too insignificant to escape the use of “running”

“what brand of toilet paper is everyone running for backcounty hunts?”

“What shoe laces is everyone running for backcountry hunts?”

“What brand of tires are you guys running on your daily commute to your jobs so you can pay for you hunting trips?”

I watched the newest GoHunt video this morning about a high country archery mule deer pack list. Good video and informative and all, but my man did 70+- "run" references in a half hour video. After the first 3 mins I started over and started counting them, lol. I think only 3 of them were actual real references to the word run, like "run of the mill" or whatever. Good clip and I like those guys, but Poser your point can def be made in videos like that one lmao.
