I currently hunt the North Coast and am ready to try and seal the deal on a mature benchleg. I'll be hunting early archery unless something changes my mine, I'll draw the tag. I'll be headed south late spring with cams and minerals to spend a few days scouting as well. I was going to do a gun hunt with a fellow veteran but he recently had to back out of a late October meet up. Applegates a bit farther south for me but I'm guessing the better unit and curious if bucks are gonna be up high in early August are or they pretty much scattered. If ya have anything ya want to PM me feel free. Also, if anyone needs any north coast info shoot me a message asking...

My experience with monitoring blacktails all summer has been that they are scattered, and they move around bachelored up during summer. Usually up higher, but I have them on low cameras too. Cover, food, and water. They don’t travel far from it. Our archery season starts just after they shed their velvet, by literally days. The farther east you go, the better chance for a big benchleg as they will be closer to muley territory. I hope you are successful!

Thanks, the BT do the same up here. We see them bunched up in archery elk usually. I'm hoping they stay at the mineral until hard horned like my BT and whitetail do since the hunts first week of august.
