You could pay the $3000 trespass and hunt the White Elephant Ranch, they have about 15 Miles of access, You will see a ton of rams regardless, the biggest problem is deciding which one you want. The rut will be winding down for your hunt but it doesnt really matter.

It’s been leased by an outfitter last I heard..

That is a rumor , I just spoke with the ranch manager. He says they have open spots for hunters.

Happen to know which outfitter? If you are willing to publicize.

It's great to know a more open lease is possible for landowners without locking up to one outfitter only.

I do, but appearently its only for deer.

My understanding is that white elephant is not exclusive. They may have restrictions on certain animals - it is my understanding they did last year.

JFC, I know the story behind the deer.. It’s not nearly as heinous as made out and I have not details on the other sheep violation, do you? It very well could be another local cop with a hard on.

Lots of haters, yet I have never seen a bad review from someone who hunted with sheep mountain which can’t be said for most of the others..

Unfortunately having guided clients before I have had similar situations. My record is 3 rifles and at least 1 box of shells over a morning..

I was making a joke about the debacle in the video Kryptek had out awhile ago...wasn't that the quote "I knew it'd be a gun fight."

To clarify my comment, there was a big sheep that was killed in the late John Day hunt that from my understanding was on the ‘do not shoot’ list from white elephant, so anyone in earlier sheep hunts was told not to shoot that ram if they saw it. We didn’t hunt that so I heard second hand, fwiw.

I’m obviously not from there nor will I ever hunt there more than likely but I would not hire or hunt with anyone willing to do the kinds of things this outfitter has been convicted and accused of. To each his own but there has to be better options for outfitters in your area and/or at least outfitters that respect the resource enough to obey the law.

Calis are turning into big money sheep, a few gov tag holders have chosen them over Rockies as of late.
