And even illuminated reticles I like them usable without illumination. The reticle on the 3-9 looks goodThe reticle is very visible at all powers. The whole scope is like a product improved version of the 3-9x Leupold they originally had.

Yes, but do you rreeeeallly want to stick with a Mk5HD, which is their most typical selection?“Clone correct” is funny with the internet. There are still some MK12’s in use in small numbers, and they have all manner of current modern scopes on them.

The ATACR 1-8 is often seen in use and regardless of MK12 or whatever, that is one superb optic for an AR15. I swear I have seen current use Mk12s with the ATACR 4-16 F1, which would be my #1 choice if no budget.
Yeah and what I am building is not a clone. More like a rifle built off of the usability of the mk12.There are less MK12’s still being used than people would hope for; but more than most think are- and those that are, tend to have more leeway in what optics they use.
Just off the top of my head, “real” MK12’s have been used with- all manner of Leupold models. Almost every NF made- SHV 4-14x F1, both 1-8’s, old 1-4x, all three 2.5-10’s, ATACR 4-16x and 5-25x. NXS 3.5-15x and 5.5-22x. Several different Trijicon models- mostly Tenmiles. SWFA 1-6x, 6x/10x, 3-9x, 3-15x, and 5-20x. All manner of S&B’s. Multiple Vortex’s- though less of them than others that I’ve seen. Maven RS1.2’s. Swaro Z6 1-6x and Z8’s. And more that I am sure I am forgetting.
Unless someone is “cloning” a specific rifle from a specific picture- a good scope is a good scope and chances are it’s been used before.
