Hey everyone,
I’m looking to add a new(used) set of LRF binos to my kit. I’m between the Vectronix vector x and the Sig Kilo 10k gen 2. I’ve seen hints that Vectronix can be mapped out in OnX but not any solid proof.

Is the OnX connectivity worth it? Ease of use? Handiness? Thoughts and experiences are appreciated.

Sig Kilo 10K Gen 2 also drops a pin to OnX. After using it myself I find that simple LOS with OnX rangefinder mode is more accurate. Use terrain to ensure heading is dead on. My binos compass is a few degrees off even after calibrating.

Do you like the Gen 2’s? Or do you wish you would have gone with something else?

No regrets against options available last year. Buying today I’d look hard at the revics gen 2, new vortex talon and new leupold. Last two have bomb proof warranties but jury is out on speed of solution, glass, etc.

My Leica's I bought this year have a navigation function through the app I can use to get to a spot or I can use OnX to get a pin dropped with them. It was fun to play with this year but I don't know how much I will use it long term. I also had to calibrate my binos often, which could be due to the magnets on my bino pouch.

Seems like a feature almost entirely for adding some more marketing fluff.

Wish they used that energy on improving the user interface, adjustable/zero able reticles, and overall better ballistics systems.

I dont think I'll ever use that feature. A range and a compass bearing works fine.

My Leica Geovid pro Ab will send a link to whichever mapping source you use. Plus ballistics. One of the Best Buy’s I’ve got since starting hunting.

The only knock against the Leica's I've heard is that their firing solution is slow.

I also hunt with friends and several different rifles so the Sig's ability to hold 30 ballistic profiles is nice. I think the new Vortex only holds 5 at once?

I’ve compared my leicas to my sig rangefinder because of hearing the same concern. I have the Ab+ and if it is slower it’s milliseconds slow. With it being connected to Applied ballistics just like the Sigs there is plenty of ballistic profiles that I can store.

My sig rangefinder is connected to Applied ballistics and it has 15 profiles I think. TheLeica is 30. I don’t know how I would ever need that many but it’s fun to have.

My only complaint with the Leica is they do require calibration every so often. You can bypass it in the moment. But it’s annoying. I think it still drops waypoints more accurately than my Sig rangefinder finder.

What I think I’m trying to understand for myself is whether or not the OnX mapping is useful enough to get the Sig Gen 2’s. This will be my first pair of range finding binos. I’ve hearf great things about the Vector X in terms of of features and glass quality for a $500-$600 jump from the Sigs. Leica is out of the question at roughly $1500 dollars more than the Sigs, same with the new Leupolds predicted msrp at $4k.

The OnX mapping feature is not something I'll continue using on mine. If it was more accurate and faster, then I'd say yes. I won't continue using it in the future.

It works well on my Sig range finder. I have the 3k. You had to use the app a then click add it to on x. Then it takes you to onx. I use it for recovery and getting in on animals do a stalk. But it’s not fast. I love range finding binos. I had some meopta RF binos that were awesome. But they didn’t have any ballistics. Hence the upgrade.

Good luck on your decision.

The red marker is from me using the ranged LOS and manual rangefinder mode in OnX. The blue Sig waypoint was using the built in feature. I was about 635yds away. Sig waypoint was way off and in a steep canyon a couple degrees off might lose an animal.

Edit - the track was where the animal died out of sight; my red waypoint was spot on to where I shot him.
