I have onX for a single state, but just used it in another, even downloaded maps for offline use, just does not have all the features but works fine for getting around!

I have Gaia and Onx and so far prefer Gaia. I have been running them side by side since this Summer. Gaia’s layers are a little harder to figure out but so far they offer everything I have wanted and you get all 50 states for $40.

My onX keeps closing out when in middle of it. Liking BaseMap and Gaia more and more.

Still learning but how do you search landowner names on Basemap and Gaia? Haven’t figured it out yet like can on OnX

Think I am going to run Gaia and maybe just do one month trial of base maps during hunting season so I can try the 3 D feature. Gaia has always been my favorite for satellite photos and topo maps. Navigation tools with it out excellent also.

I am testing basemap and it appears to have a water layer. I'm paying way to much for onX.

Basemap video review I did is up on Rokslide YouTube. It’s a fairly broad comparison. Les did a written review that should be posted in the next week or so that I’m betting is in more detail.

I like Gaia but the pointer is jacked up on my Android. It doesn't point in the direction of travel. It is much easier to navigate when you can follow the end of the pointer to where you want to go. It is also easier for me to point my phone at a terrain feature and then figure out where it is on the map. This is almost impossible when the pointer is constantly jumping and never pointing in right direction.

I have both, if I had to pick one I'd pick Gaia. I do slightly prefer the way landowner names are displayed in OnX, and last I checked the roadless layer in Gaia wasn't working right, but both of those are minor issues.

Would be great if I could get their layers to show up within google earth. BaseMap advertised Google Earth integration which got me interested, but turns out they don't have it either.
Hi Brendan! Just wanted to let you know that we now have BaseMap Earth for iOS and we are working on it for Android. You can now view layers and markers in 3D right in the app. Check it out!

I have OnX premium (single state) so $30 isn't bad and I've only needed to download my home state so far. $99 for the U.S. is steep. But, I don't want to lose my waypoints and tracks. Any export option if you switch to Gaia or Basemap?

You can add the usa to onx for a single month for situations where you might draw an out of state hunt.

All of them have export and should be used regularly to save your data.

Android user, so can't try yet, but curious what you mean...

What I was envisioning was opening Google Earth and being able to view layers, i.e. land ownership or other within google earth. That to me is what would be meant by "Google Earth Integration". There's an existing web package I can do that with that gets me everything but land ownership...

If you’re having issues with OnX, delete the app and redownload it. That’s fixed any issues I’ve had. Not ideal, but it works.

I’m 90% sure that the maps are the same across the different providers - google base maps or whatever they are called. The only thing different now is that 3D feature that basemaps came up with which just takes up more space and doesn’t tell me anything a topo line doesn’t.

It is on our plan to get it up on Android as well. Stay tuned!
