One pair of pants

Kryptek valhalla, and even got a pair for $40. We are talking early to mid season, and I get warm easy so they work great for me, maybe not you. These work great even into the 40s and rain, I have walked through wet baby pines all day in just these, and sat in treestands in the 50s with rain, and been just fine cause they dry so fast. You can't beat the price if you get them discounted. The simplicity and drop in side pockets with no zipper are perfect for phones, wind check, calls. Nothing falls out. A taper to the legs would be an improvement though.

Older thread, but still valid considerations. How does the Attack pant do around campfires? Do you have to really avoid embers or does it do ok? I have used Prana zions the last few years and they do fine. Been quite impressed in fact.

Kuiu guide pants for sure. I have attack and guide pants, and the guide pants are more versatile in my opinion

I wear my Sitka Timberlines year round and for every type of hunting. The padded knees and waterproof knees and butt are perfect additions to hard use hunting pants.

Kuiu Attacks get my vote. I run them from Sept to November, add merino base layers as needed. Love the hip vents.

Another Attack vote here. They fit me well, the leg vents are great, and polyester doesn’t absorb as much water as nylon.

All modern technical pants are polyester or nylon which doesn’t typically mix with fire.

but the Attacks are great pants. Best I have ever used.

If you could only have one pair of pants for early to mid season, what would you pick. I'm currently running FL kanab, but looking to get something a little more durable. It's a bit overwhelming with all the options out there.
Prana Zion have held up really well for me. Built in belt is a huge plus!

Would those who prefer the Attack say the same for later season hunts? Talking 1st through 4th rifle CO.

As part of a lower body layering system? Sure. Almost certain to want to layer either rain pants or puffy insulation for long sits. Gators too. I am personally not a fan of heavier fabric pants on a standalone basis as it makes temperature regulation more difficult. YRMV.

Thanks. Yes, that’s exactly what I do with Zions. I have been considering some Guide pants for colder hunts in lieu of my Zions.

Stone Glacier Dehavilland if I could only have one pair. I actually wear them the most, just layer appropriately.

Another vote for kuiu attack.

my current pair have two full season on them and about a half dozen tenacious tape patches. light merino undies and vents open for august archery antelope, 200 weight merino long johns and OR crocs for late season elk.

Not the most durable, but the trades offs are worth it for me. light, breathable, quiet, side vents, handle rain and snow well. just have to chop off those pesky pocket cover flaps.
