Emr 2 with said silly grab it and load of moose and elk horns. Main bag was full of camp. Could of tried to weave the antlers all through the straps but the grab it held them much easier, nothing was shifting all over on the four mile hike out.

Hey now just cause I think its silly for my uses doesn't mean its silly for everyone.

Except the Nomad...that thing is truly silly.....

I broke down and ordered the EMRII w/ ultralight frame yesterday morning. I also added a couple belt pouches and a gun bearer....do you guys suggest anything else? Thanks for the collective advice on this thread....can't wait to get my hands on it!!

The more I use my "silly Nomad" the bigger I like the belt pockets, started with small and then went to medium, might use a large this year. But one thing that's not changed a bit is the mini belt pocket and nalgene pocket on the right side of my belt!!! I seen several of the Kifaru guy's using the nalgene and asked about it, and tried it last year hydrating from the nalgene versus camelbak and man was it a better way to go, especially if you use electrolyte mixes in your water.

Seriously though it's not enough weight to worry about carrying along and it has came in useful for me. I guess I'm the only one taking one along in my kit. When I was packing boned out elk quarters I strapped the meat higher in the bag with the compression straps and then tightened that super tight below it to keep the meat from sagging to the bottom of the pack.

I run a source 3 liter bladder in my lid which allows the bag and gear to be compressed tight without squishing my hydration system.

The hydration bladder is my question. In my kuiu 7200 I have pockets for my bladders and holders for the hose. What are you doing with the kifaru? I am leaning towards the nomad

When I had my nomad, I just ran the bladder in one of the sleeves of the wings. In "day hunt mode" the bladder was usually right up against the frame more or less. When hauling a full pack, it was still fairly close to the middle of the mass. I just found this easier to access the bladder for refilling.

The longer I wait, the more I flip flop between Nomad/EMR II, MR, or an EXO... First world problems!

There is a second pocket on the Guide Lid that you can put a bladder in.

Web Dominators to keep the straps under control.

I run a large belt pouch on the right side with pistol holster underneath it. Mini belt pouch and a water bottle pocket on the left side. Not sure if the small belt pouch will fit with the water bottle pocket on the same side.

Gun bearer mount under the right wing on the bag.

The KUIU bladder holder is only $15 and clips right onto the frame inside of my cargo panel. It's a lot lighter then adding another pocket as well.

I just bought a modified nomad. Read about it on kifaru.net. type search in for modified nomad. He had a vertical zip bag added to it. Bunch of extra tabs also added and velcro closures added. Anxious to try out.

Any chance you could post some pictures of this? The pics in the add on Kifaru.net are not there anymore.

Me and my buddy went on a scouting trip this last week, he sporting his EMR 2 which he loves and me using the Nomad which I love. EMR 2 using the bikini frame and the Nomad using the ultralight duplex frame. EMR packing about 45 pounds and Nomad packing 40 pounds. We looked at the differences and pros and cons of both. We both came up with the conclusion that they were basically the same pack. You can remove the bag on the Nomad but you could not remove it on the EMR. It just comes down to personal preference on which suits the individual. Both packs have three compression straps, both have long pockets that zip up which have long pockets on them with no zip and short pockets on them. Both can be used with grab it and the lid of your choice. Or both could use the cargo panel. Both can be removed from the frame and you can use the frame only. Either pack is a great choice and the differences are small. I think anybody would be happy with either pack. Fatrascal.

I forgot to mention that I was using the camp bag which zips up in the middle just like the EMR does. Hence, the description I used explaining the removal of the bag on the Nomad. Fatrascal.

Its a very hard decision for sure. The EMRII has a bigger center bag too. But the removable camp bag on the Nomad won me over.
