Old stands- probably some great memories

Oh yes. I’ve found many of them same. And used a bunch of - and also fixed up a bunch of them too.

Always semi scared that something is going to break when I’m climbing up / down and then when I’m sitting in them and stuff breeze comes along and I’m wondering if I’m gonna end up flying

I've found several old stands built in the national forest. Once I find one I usually hunt nearby since folks don't go to the trouble to haul materials in and build them unless there's a good reason.

I always wonder on this one. It had to have materials flown in with a helicopter since it has some pretty long studs and the closest road is not an option View attachment 616507

How long are the studs? I’ve seen lots of old pictures of damn long boards and posts loaded onto mules for building fire lookouts.

There are steel studs that are pretty long.
