We went 8 days without seeing an elk starting on opening morning, in the "northern option" of hunt areas you woulda been in. Of course the 2 days before opener I had two bulls pinned down consistently morning and night then wolves rolled in the night before opener. I'll probably return next year, but with wolf tags in my pocket, not elk.

Stories like this are why I hunt elk in mild country. Lots of elk live in country where I can get the pickup near them. The best pack out in the world is about 10 feet! Loading a big bull whole into the back of the truck is not a bad thing.

My hat is off to you though, you guys made a tough hunt also a great one. Well done! Much respect.
