Official WA Rokslider thread...

I was able to copy and paste your link into my browser just fine. Seriously, some awesome pics, especially the winter trips!

You'll have to make the winter hike for sure Ken!

I think we need to start planning boys!

I'm going to do every thing I can to not miss the next one. At least in the winter, I won't have to worry about getting called to fire. After missing the trip, I ended up waiting around all weekend, and didn't go to a fire until Monday afternoon.

I'm always game for some snow camping. December is better for me. Tax season is pretty much out Jan-April.
You should have seen the look on the backcountry skier's faces when they saw us doing a little of this at a high-lake.

You should repost these in the proper embedded format... as I'm too lazy right now to copy and paste the URL's into new browser tabs... :)

Did this work better? I'm digging the idea of a WA Rokslide winter get together. I'll even pack the ice auger. We'll have to pack some Canadian whiskey and say Eh a lot.

doh!? Why can't I get pictures to post?

When I click the little insert photo box above, and put in the URL, it gives an "Error: Invalid Code" message.

I say we have this Winter RS trip in Early Feb. That way waterfowl season is over ;-)

Agreed, I am actually not opposed to a January trip. I can miss a weekend of duck hunting. Ill live. I need to invest in some snow shoes now.

It rains in January??? Where??? ha jk I think this sounds like a fun trip, never been snow camping before!

Mike

Never been either. I am trying to think how the paratarp will do in the snow. Wishing I could have a super or mega with a stove by then!

It would have to be the first week in January (1/04) or I won't be able to make it. Tax season is kind of demanding. I'm totally game for December though.

Tarps work great in the snow. You can tie off to trees or cut some branches to dig into the snow. Another trick is to use small bags and compact snow into them in order to weigh down the guy lines.

You can also get a package of the 12" Coughlin's tent stakes. The big yellow ones. You'll want to dig down in the snow past the soft powder to the crunchy stuff before pitching your tent anyways. 12" stakes will usually stick in the crunchy snow.

December doesn't work for me because of the holidays. With my parents being divorced and remarried I swear it seems like I have about 8 Christmas parties to attend. Not a bad thing, just time consuming.

I like the idea of the longer steaks though for my tarp.

I have an elk hunt the first couple weeks of January. Pretty much anytime after that will work for me.

Any Ideas on where we want to go?

February sounds better so far. No clue on destinations. Hopefully Mike has some recommendations lol. I can always do some searching on the world wide web.

I think Mark would be the go to guy for a winter trip. But there's a few areas out of Leavenworth that could be kind of cool that time of year. Who knows when or what I'll be able to make. I don't even know my exact plans for hunting season yet much less have anything passed that planned! :)

an easy one is skyline lake across the road from stevens pass. The mountains are fun but dont leave out the Winchester and pot holes area, it will be colder but there are lots of yotes in that zone!
I would vote for pot holes/ Winchester the last weekend of duck in January, that way i can shoot ducks hopefully and rok party!!
