I tried flipping it over but when I do that the bolts aren’t long enough. Plus the action screw bolt that is sent with it is the wrong thread pitch for the tika so that won’t work either! I emailed James but haven’t gotten a response yet because of the holiday. We shall see!
It is only threaded for the handle on one side so it won’t go flat to flat only round to flat. Kinda disappointed, I shoulda just bought the wheeler. I was just trying to support a smaller company. Still hopeful that I am just being dumb and not seeing something.
Is the head of it made up of 3 blocks? Hard to tell in the pic...I thought that maybe the half round block in the middle could flip too. And the handle threads into the thinner 1/2"-looking bottom block
No only two parts and the handle.
....I might be missing it, too, but I don't see how that will work for a Tikka. Unless you tried to put the action in a vise and suck that round-round tight enough on the barrel. Never seen it done that way, and after doing a few, I wouldn't try it.
Should slide the action into the hole and tighten it down. The barrel would go in a barrel vise. Grab the handle and pull.
Agreed. But the Tikka action is a square peg....works better with flats on the wrench.
I’ll admit, I’m not overly familiar with a tikka. If it’s square and needing flats would an appropriately sized wrench work?
Honestly, I think you could get away with it...but breaking the factory barrels loose can be a monster. If your wrench slips or has any slop at all, it's going to show up somewhere.
I’m proud my old mauser wasn’t that much trouble. I broke an arisaka apart once and that was true pain. About like your experience
