Can someone please enlighten me to why the mtn Lion made it into the North American mini slam? I believe it’s also called North America Big 10?

Is it because it’s the only feline? But there is no canine on the list. Wolves being a very sought after species. It’s Bison or Muskox. Why isn’t it kitty or dog?

Mountain lion is more accessible than wolf, muskox, or bison. There is more opportunity for mountain lion, at least in the lower 48. Just a guess.

Boone and Crockett doesn’t have any canines in their record books. If they added wolves it would probably turn into the big 11. With them adding javelina it might go that way anyways.

TopherDave, I agree with you...should be Cougar or Wolf for one of the 10 categories (although the category name is "Cats" so that would require a revision to "Cats and Dogs", haha). A bit antiquated to have Jaguar in that category these days since they are not huntable in North America to my knowledge. If and when I get in touch with GSCO I'll suggest it. Just a member but know a few directors.

What is even more compelling for your suggestion is the Wolf is an acceptable substitute now for the un-huntable Quebec Labrador Caribou to get to 29....as is an Eastern Canada Moose, Atlantic Walrus or Pacific Walrus. Might as well make Wolf acceptable for the Super 10. Wolves are as big of a challenge as about anything on the Super Slam (North American 29) list.
