I know I’m late to the point race, however what states should I start looking at for Elk, Deer and Antelope Tags? I was thinking Idaho, Wyoming and maybe Colorado but honestly has no real clue. Should I look somewhere else for tags? Are these a bad pick? Does any state offer OTC archery tags? I’d plan to do non guided hunts on public land during archery season, the goal would to be in the woods in 2-3 years if possible.

I currently live & hunt in Texas with plans to start hunting Kansas with a buddy when he moves there early next year.

Iirc, no points in ID or NM. Quite a number of states have otc or fairly easy to draw elk hunts. For example Oregon offers otc elk tags in Western OR, other states may too. In TX, you are reasonably close to NM, CO, WY, UT. All have various elk opportunities, I’d start my research there. Make it easier to take scouting trips too.
