looking for a elk bullet next year. I have done the bore size with thor, but thinking maybe using no excuses. What do you guys prefer

Can’t beat a Thor (Barnes) for reliable terminal performance. Depends on how far youre shootings though I suppose. A 460-600 gr NE would pack one hell of a punch. Why are you thinking of changing?

I dont have either. I sized with the thor but havnt went any further. Leaning towards them but heard good things about the excuses and I much prefer lead plus they are cheaper. But, think I will stick with the thors

I’m shooting 250 grain Thor ballistic tips out of my Accura MRX, with 77 grains of BH209 (weight) I group within an inch at 200 yards. I’m not sure what my velocity is.

Good choice. And, IMO, the 297/300 gr are the way to go. The 250s are way to light for elk.

Will be getting an accura MRX
and looking at Thor and NE myself. The hunt I want to do is on more open windswept faces. 150 + yards with Williams precision sights. I’m thinking a lighter copper bullet going faster that holds together well might be the ticket and less affected by wind deflection. Not sure it makes a difference with muzzy velocities. FWIW, my buddy killed with a 420 grain NE on the same hunt last year.
