Very little snow right now I haven't been up high so might be more but I work in the unit and most of the snow has melted off definitely getting cold though

I have heard that hunting in the oil fields right before dark is the best hunting there is

I don't think I'll be road hunting..it ssleems lile they push the deer back a ways so I'll be getting in there off the road in hopes of a bigger buck

Haven´t been there this year so no clue on snow conditions. The year I went in Jan., we had almost no snow but brutally cold conditions. Be prepared. Other hunters who had done it before said it was the first year they didn't need chains to access the roads. There are plenty of bucks with a handful of downright giants. You will likely hear that the bucks wont be there if there isn't enough snow to push them down from CO, but we did not find that to be the case. Just be patient and find anywhere you can to keep an eye on the sage flats. Good luck and have fun!

When were you there last? My hunting partner was there last year with 2 feet of snow and -14 degrees! so we will see how it goes! I have the youth tag

I would take chains if you have them. The gas companies take great care of the roads so there are no ruts snow or mud can make it very hard to stay on the road. I am basing this on past experience not current conditions.

Yes it's been snowing daily for the past week or so. Should make for a good hunt but bad off-road travel. Last week I saw a lot of rutting activity driving just north of there from Ignacio to Arboles. Almost every group of does I saw had a mature buck with them. Stay warm and good luck!
