Just used up the last of my deer meat (rifle season opens in 2 weeks). After buying a few pounds of beef in town for a pot of chili.....It can't continue lol, $7lb. The thought has crossed my mind of starting the research for a cow nilgai hunt. Yes, the price per pound will be much higher....but I get a hunt and experience out of the deal.
What do you guys know?
Draw vs. outfitter?
Juice worth the squeeze?
Lets chat.
Thanks!

I just returned from the king ranch and Kennedy ranch area
HF&F in port Mansfield is a legitimate place

Outfitted
The draw on the federal land is a joke ( might take 20 years to get drawn)

My dad has killed two bulls on the king ranch. Both hunts were paid for by oilfield service companies so I am not sure of the cost but the meat is the best tasting game animal I have tried.

As stated the meat is very close to beef and you will have a bunch of it.

Outfitter is the most sensible way to go. If you look enough, you can find a reasonable price on a meat hunt instead of the “trophy” hunt. I have seen where ranches practically give them away just to get a few off the property.

King and you get memory of hunting the most historic ranch in the Texas. Just don’t bring extra money with you. It’s a very game rich environment both exotics and whitetails

I say do it, it’s another species checked off the list. I killed a nice Bull on the Horn Fin And Feathers place. One of our vendors sent us down there and set it up. The meat was “OK” but not great IMO, it did make good ground meat for whatever you want to make out of it. I live 6 hours North of there, and am extremely familiar with Rattlesnakes. The ones we saw on that place are B&C Trophy’s, so if you go, beware.

Used to fish Port Mansfield often. If you decide to go I'd definitely add on a day or 2 to rip some lips. I remember riding through town in the evenings & seeing several B&C bucks just walking around in people's yards.
