Nikwax and permethrin

Should I spray my pants with permethrin before or after washing them with Nikwax? My thought is the Nikwax prevents moisture from penetrating so then the permethrin wouldn’t be effective. Thoughts?

Permethrin is advertised to withstand 4-5 washings I believe. I would douse them before.

I no longer spray permethrin on technical clothing...it bonds to the material fibers in a way that it causes water to stop beading off the material. It "wets out" after applying permethrin. Ended up washing my clothing to removig it all and restore the waterproof qualities. Id rather have the waterproof qualities and water beading off the material and not wetting out.
