Not huntingGo figure...... I really dont understand a 20 mil gap for a 12 power optic. Who is shooting 20 mils on 12X? That's assuming that individual hasn't even dialed. Heck even my slow 6mm ARC shooting 108 ELDMs at 2550 fps, it takes me 1400 yards before I hit 20 mils.
YesLeupold went the wrong way with the Mark 5.
Mainly March with FML1 these days but I still have a range of others and for a while I had tried more or less every FFP scope vaguely suitable for hunting on the market - S&B PMII with P4F, Bushy 3-12 LRHS, etcWhat scope/reticle are you using?
Edit - I looked up the FML1 and the thin crosshairs appear to be the same 0.07 mil as the SWFA 3-9 so I don’t think I would have any trouble with it. The TMR reticle is the one that is too fine for me.
I have a 3-12 LRHS and it works fine. That scope is what made me think that I didn’t really need anything more than 12X.Mainly March with FML1 these days but I still have a range of others and for a while I had tried more or less every FFP scope vaguely suitable for hunting on the market - S&B PMII with P4F, Bushy 3-12 LRHS, etc
I regret selling mine, it is still one of the few decent options.I have a 3-12 LRHS and it works fine. That scope is what made me think that I didn’t really need anything more than 12X.
The LRHS2 is only about an ounce heavier than the 3-12 but it is a heck of a lot longer. Both are quite a bit heavier than the SWFA 3-9.I regret selling mine, it is still one of the few decent options.
It's a shame they stopped making them and GAP only bought back the larger model (which exceeds my size/weight requirements)

The advertised spec is 775gm which is almost exactly 100gm more than a 3-12 LRHS. I draw the line at 700gm these days. The LRHS2 is only about an ounce heavier than the 3-12 but it is a heck of a lot longer. Both are quite a bit heavier than the SWFA 3-9.
L-R: SWFA 3-9, LRHS 3-12, LRHS2 4.5-18

I'm sorry, say that again....Not hunting
Arc done by 600 as well as nearly everyone who shoots at critters
NoI'm sorry, say that again....
So who is out there shooting 20 mils on 12x? I only used my 6mm ARC to show, even with a slow cartridge like that, you are well past the usable magnification of 12x. Shoot a 6mm CM, 22 CM, 6UM, 25CM, 6.5 PRC, the list goes on, that 20 mils is further. So what's the point of having 20 mils of elevation on the reticle?
It’s not a new reticle…Patience, grasshopper.
I expect we will see those soon.
Rimfire guys? I really have no idea...dumbest thing ever for ‘hunting’ lol. 20 mil on an arc? Wt absolute f? I’m with ya, no nx6 coming to my house. So who is out there shooting 20 mils on 12x? Also eyeing a NX6 and the PA 1.5-12. I’m wanting the 3-18 NX6. Two different applications.Anyway the 2-12 NX6 looks perfect aside from the reticle which looks far from perfect but it will work and I will likely buy one and one of the new Primary Ams 1.5-12s, if I can get my hands on the latter
I was agreeing with all of this until the last sentence.Nightforce reticles are not ideal but I’ve hunted with FFP Mil-C and MOAR the last 4 years without issue. They do well from 8x on up and I lean on illumination which works well to push with my left thumb. I also shoot them for NRL/PRS matches so there is a consistency I appreciate.
I own or have owned the RS1.2 Mil and SWFA 3-9 and I still pick the less visible reticle Mil-C because I like the overall scope user experience better on a NX8 or SHV. I also like 0.2 mil holds for wind over 0.5 given the choice.
If I’m in a thick, short range environment I grab my SFP NXS for shooting whitetails from 50-100 yards. For open country or broken country out west it’s FFP for me all the way.
Reticles are well known to be Nightforce’s greatest weakness but they will still see an FFP 2-12 NX6 order from my this spring.
From memory, Bushnell's stated weights for the LRTS and LRHS lines were not accurate. I think I made a post or two here a few years ago that gave weights for the three different models I had.The advertised spec is 775gm which is almost exactly 100gm more than a 3-12 LRHS. I draw the line at 700gm these days.
