I'm just going to say that the old big folding mirrors on square-bodied chevys were THE BEST for that. Fold the thing down and you have a nice flat surface for a bag. Park the truck right and put one bag on the mirror (turned flat) and on on the door with the window rolled down, and you were golden. This is the biggest problem in the industry, I agree.
The end user is never the one driving the design, lately everything is based on PRS/NRL and shooting stuff off the mirror of the PH/Guides truck.

Agree, but I'd really rather not go back to MOA. If they released the 2/-12 SFP 4A with mil turrets I'd be pretty happy with that scope.
All I'm saying is, if Horus can put a blueprint to the Pentagon in the bottom half of a reticle, maybe NF could find a way to add two 2-moa windage hashes to each side.I guess. It just seems so incongruous. You're going to have all that elevation adjustment and zero support in the reticle for wind holds.
you cannot please everybody that is a given time. will tell ... but i do see some use for me but again i have other choice for shooting at longer distance and it is time to retire my old 4200 2.5-10x50 with illum german 4 so i cannot complain ...Nightforce design team working on a reticle for the NX6 2-12 F1 that will be "an exceptional companion to lightweight hunting guns."

The resemblance to the old HORUS reticles in the Bushnell Elite line is obvious. I spent about 2 hours one night watching how-to videos and gave up more confused than I started. All I'm saying is, if Horus can put a blueprint to the Pentagon in the bottom half of a reticle, maybe NF could find a way to add two 2-moa windage hashes to each side.

(wait what were we talking about?)

I’ve used an SHV 3-10 on my main hunting gun for a year now. I’ve never had an issue. I’m pretty rough on scopes, back in my Vortex and Leupold days I just got used to scopes shifting zero and occasionally completely failing. This SHV hasn’t had a zero shift at all, even after being dropped in the rocks a few times and bounced around. I check it every other week with a 10 round group on paper. I’ve been pretty impressed with it.I’m on the fence trying to get a SHV 3-10 for my kid. I need simple reticle. Super forgiving eye box. And tough. I get a decent discount on NF stuff so it’s fairly affordable too.
Wondering if waiting to see what they come out with is worth it.
Anyone have any feedback on the SHV?
not every hunter dial with their scope and no every body is holding either so they found maybe a niche for you but good for some that will use some of the scopes for that hunt. It’s like they picked features out of a hat and then made that scope. Capable, dialable 2-12 scope….with a standard duplex reticle, or a tree. So you get way too many holds or none. Why no mil-r or moar? I’m out on these.
Dang. You mentioned duplex jokingly(?) and I had to go check, because at the end of the day their basic duplex does more of the things I want to do, than their cluttered stuff does. It’s like they picked features out of a hat and then made that scope. Capable, dialable 2-12 scope….with a standard duplex reticle, or a tree. So you get way too many holds or none. Why no mil-r or moar? I’m out on these.
Tight cover follow up shots. I hunt hogs a lot. Happens all the time. And you need to FOV when they jump up at close range. Same with dark timber elk hunting. Why ever shoot at 3x? I am not sure there are very many scenarios where 6x minimum wouldn't work. Half this forum worships the fixed 6x.
Just need to clean it up. Who needs a 2.5 exagerated line? Not sure there is value in .5 lines either. The brain can process a lot if we get the clutter out if the way. I am trying shoot an animal not a ten spot card. And I am pretty sure I can count to 5.
Going to max mag is issue. Only works at one point at the far end of the range of mag given. Remembering to get there as one variable easily eliminated by ffp.I don’t know what the on off switch you’re talking about is. Please clarify.
My assertion was that 95% of harvests are inside of 300, so, the following applies.
A slippery bullet in most common chamberings with a 225 yard zero will get you to point and shoot to 250 and easy hold to 300. I don’t need to dial and I don’t need subtensions for that, I just need some basic knowledge of anatomy. If you can’t hold up to 4 inches for wind without a subtension, that’s a problem. You don’t need high mag for 300, and the target image isn’t going to appear too small to accurately aim, so what exactly is the issue with SFP
You guys need to quit giving excuses- Rokslide drives a pretty large portion of multiple markets and companies admit it. NF and everyone else gets repeatedly asked or told to make reticles for hunting at every show.
The reason that companies aren’t making reticles that fit the actual need is 100% because the companies do not have people that make decisions that actually hunt. They might shoot a deer in a field, and they might go on a guided elk hunt or to Africa- but they don’t broad base hunt seriously. That’s it. That’s the whole answer.
Yup, we reference bow site pins every 10 yards just fine. 1 mil would work good for me too. It’s all referencing, less is often more.Just need to clean it up. Who needs a 2.5 exagerated line? Not sure there is value in .5 lines either. The brain can process a lot if we get the clutter out if the way. I am trying shoot an animal not a ten spot card. And I am pretty sure I can count to 5.
Just my 2 cents.
Came here to say this! I mean not everyone loves a tree reticle.
