I sold my Atacr due to weight, but I did think the glass was better than both my Nx8's. Funny how the glass on Zeiss, Leica, Leupold all beat Nf's best option. I wish we could get some crossbreeding to create the perfect scope. Niess or Nightpold

I know it.. The ATACR design is almost a decade old and optically is falling behind the pack.
Deon optics is doing impressive stuff with their High master super ED glass and wide angle lens.
I really hope NF gets with it

I won't spend $1,800 for those reticles. No matter how good everything else about the 2-12 is. We can already spend far less for "nearly there".

Now I really wish they would've just put mil adjustments on the $900 SHV 3-10.

Zeiss uses Schott glass. I'm pretty sure they'd sell some to NF if they'd just ask.

(I have a Zeiss V6 and love it, though I'm aware of its limits)

The big problem with NF is that nothing they make works better, for me, than a SHV 4-14. Or, as someone pointed out the other day, a Maven rs1.2moa-2.

Id have been tolerant of the Mil-R reticle in the 2-12. Still not ideal but it works.

How they don’t make ONE decent FFP hunting reticle is ******* insane. I think you could look past all the grid bullshit on the 2-12 and just focus primarily on the more bold portions of the reticle, which are just OKAY. Overall…. dogshit release for hunters though.

Can’t leave the Tenmile 5-25 reticle for that trash.

Well the 1-6 dmx looks a little longer than the nx8 1-8 plus longer eye relief so that would be pretty functional and fit easier over more actions and give up nothing to the nx8 1-8 dmx functionally. But just can’t tree well at last light, Mpbr no prob, as long as the 6x view is as good as the nx8 on 6x that’s not a bad option. Looking on the bright side anyway. You need the daylight bright to run it below 3x so prolly don’t want the tree that bright down there.

As for the 2-12 mrx with the added mag and digilum thats interesting. 3x and up should be great and tree usable to last light and beyond with or without illum. depending on mag and more exit pupil so added functionality there. Why the extra 10 mil is a big head scratcher for sure but does look like it will do more for hunters than many options. Just comes with a bunch of stuff down low that should be easy to ignore.

That short mounting length ahead of turrets looks like it could be a fitment problem too.

The new elevation turret looks interesting. Even that 4ai with a bdc cut turret to yards and lean into wind would be highly functional for most hunting ranges. That is if you can get the exposed option parts for the capped ones?

I would also think just adding the 4 mil dmx donut to the mil r would make lots of guys happy to fix the baby atacr low mag? Would it be so hard?

Is this nx6 line going to be the only changes to nightforce for 2026? No updates reticles etc in other lines???

Have this at the top of their NX6 product page, and then dropping the stupidest reticles imaginable for hunters actually irritates me lol. They are so out of touch it freaking bugs me. Hopefully they see the feed back and make a SIMPLE FFP HUNTING RETICLE and incorporate it into this line of scopes.

Schott is just one of a select few manufacturers producing extremely high grade optical glass. They also make the glass on my Thermador induction cooktop. Seems like their name is just a marketing stamp these days.

What matters is how close to pure fluorite the given glass behaves. A lot of current ED glass gets really, really close but it’s not just the material, it’s the overall design of the optical system. What makes the best image might not hold up worth a damn from a durability perspective. In fact, I would wager that is close to the case considering how poorly the big names in optical performance do in the torture tests while the durable ones aren’t winning any prizes in that category.

I’d have jumped on a 27oz 3-18X50 with even a decent FFP reticle. NX8 glass isn’t anything special, but it’s better than maven and trijicon. All they needed was a good reticle….

Just make the 4ai with 3 mil of windage and 3 mil of elevation. Simple fix. If it’s past 500yards I’m dialing, if it’s blowing harder than 3 mils im probably not shooting

"visible on low power" isn't a thing in ffp scopes IMO. That one guy a couple days ago was talking about how he wanted a reticle that was good for low light eastern close range timber hunts but also for long range open country western hunting and he wanted it in a scope that would excel at both. Can't have everything. Wonder what bullet/caliber he use. And in this very thread you have some people saying the nx6 line is too cheap and some saying it's too expensive and some saying its too heavy but also want a durable and repeatable scope yet not willing to pay for it.

Personally I am fond of the good old MOAR-t. It is simple and does what I need.

They have refused every effort to do a correct reticle. At this point it is almost purposeful, willful refusal.

That’s not remotely true. It is not hard to make an FFP reticle truly usable on low power.

NF would need to steal Swarovski or S&B’s coating recipes and they would be in good shape.
