Nightforce NX6 Lineup

I’m on the fence trying to get a SHV 3-10 for my kid. I need simple reticle. Super forgiving eye box. And tough. I get a decent discount on NF stuff so it’s fairly affordable too.

Wondering if waiting to see what they come out with is worth it.

Anyone have any feedback on the SHV?

NF has stated the SHV line is being phased out/discontinued.

Perfect choice. But get one while you can.

I’ve got 2 of the 3-10 and a 5-20. I really love the 3-10. The 5-20 doesn’t get as much use now. 5 on the low end is way too much for me now. It just sits on a Ruger 6 creedmoor that doesn’t get shot a ton. There’s really nothing I can complain about with the 3-10. I’d say grab one. If you can find one with the ihr reticle for your kid, even better.

I’ve got 2 of the 3-10 SHV as well with the MOAR reticle. I also have a 4.5-14x56 on my 257 wby. Really like the SHV and MOAR reticle

Hopefully the 2-12 comes in a SFP option. Just because I hate FFP for most of my hunting and if I make wind corrections with the reticle, I'll already be in 12X.

SFP would be marginally OK in a 2-12, but not for the others. The real solution, regardless of mag range, is to make the reticle usable at all powers.
I wouldn't want it in the others, just the 2-12. Anything over 12, I would want a FFP. 12 is that borderline max magnification range I would want a SFP in. With that said, depending on the reticle, you can make a SFP very usable. Example the TMR in my Mark4 2.5-10 SFP is very usable in the lower end and the upper in mag range. Picture is a 2 MOA steel plate at 500.

Problem with most FFPs I've ran into, is very few make a reticle that is usable in the lower end mag range that is conducive to most hunters and what most manufacturers seem to do is just provide Illumination. Which is irritating when you spend 90% of your hunting in the 2-6 power range and the 10-12 on occasion when you are over looking a field, gas line, power line, clear cut, etc.

Look at the trijjicon Huron series in my opinion it’s almost the exact same scope for half the price.

I have owned both and prefer the Huron over the shv

Just my 2 cents

I agree. If the 2-12 is mil adjustments with a simple SFP reticle, I'd be okay with that. Currently looking at Triji Credo 2.5-15 in a similar config. I think it would work for me.

Credo is a pretty awesome scope. I did wish it was FFP. the illumination was good and made the reticle usable at lower light. Obviously wind holds a little tougher but shooting at 7.5x was doable.

I would like a 2-12 (or 3-15, 4-16, etc.) in FFP if the reticle was good at the lower range though. I had high hopes for the Trijicon 3-18x44 when it came out. It hit just about everything I wanted. But that reticle at low power when I looked at it was one of the worst I've seen and I had to send it back. Again, it was a LR shooter/steel scope. The product teams must not be focusing on longer range hunters that live in that 3-10X variable world.

The reticle doesn't need to be fancy. A mil with simple hashes and thick stadia that fully extend to the edges that works down at low power. I don't need 10 mils of wind hold either or 20 mils of elevation. Use that space to extend the stadias inward so I can see it fast at 3X.

Sample of modified Tenmile.

I snagged a used NXS this morning. Figure timing may be good if folks are coming out with new stuff.

I’ll see how it works. Buddy just ordered one of the credo 4-16x50. I’ll compare to that too. Should be same as Huron.

Please report back. Tag me if you remember. Haven’t seen much on the 4-16 credo

This is literally all I want in a reticle. Why is it so hard for companies to realize.

I’m ok if NF keeps the MOAR reticle in the NX6. I really like the reticle on my SHV’s and NXS scopes. With that being said when I was looking for a sfp scope for my 22Creed I didn’t want to have to go with a 56 mm objective so decided against buying another NF.
I wanted something with an exposed turret, moa reticle with a magnification range in the 3-16 with a 42 or 44 mm objective.
Ended up buying a Trijicon Credo hx 2.5-15x42.
Zeroed the scope at 200 and set the zero stop. From my limited experience with it so far I’m really liking it and think bang for your buck the Credo is a better buy than the SHV.

The 4-16 credo has been a good optic for me. I have 2. The cheap ones are usually SFP, so if you can live with that it’s one of the better options out there.

Can I please have a 30mm 3-18x44ish scope with a medium profile 20 MOA zero stop elevation turret, capped windage, a FFP reticle similar to the Leupold B&C design with the addition of horizontal 2 MOA hash marks of alternating sizes and numbers above 4 and 8. Nightforce mechanicals paired with great glass. Keep the weight under 24 oz. Then somehow sell it to me for $799 with a full lifetime transferable warranty that I should never need.
I will zero to ideal PBR for my cartridge and be ready to use the reticle for "short notice" shots beyond that. The elevation turret and windage hashes are for "lots of time to get comfortable" shots at longer distances.
