NFA Gun Trusts

I currently own two cans, both from Silencer Shop with one of their “Single Shot” trusts for each.
As I plan out future suppressors, I am considering setting up traditional NFA trust. Likely this one from Silencer Shop:

https://www.silencershop.com/nfa-gu...=3295&indexName=prd_magento2_default_products

National Gun Trust also does them, and seem to be well liked as well: https://www.nationalguntrusts.com/products/buy-nfa-gun-trust

My question for you all: For those of you have traditional NFA trusts for your NFA items, where did you get it from, and is it easy to buy suppressors from other places using that trust? (like NFA trust from Silencer Shop, but buying suppressors direct from a manufacturer’s website and sending it to a local dealer)

Thanks!

I can't believe you had no replies here. I am kinda in the same boat, but setting up trust for first suppressor. I would like to have family members on it and be able to buy future suppressors with least hassle.

I ended up using Gun Trust Guru and was super easy, had it signed by a notary as well and I should be good to go with it. Overall, it was easier than I thought it would be. Now I just need to buy some NFA items to have the trust own.

Transfer the two you have into that trust now while it’s free. And remember the more people you have on your trust, the longer approvals take as everyone has to be checked and fingerprinted. Fingerprints should only have to be done once then are kept on file at capitol armory or silencershop.

I created an NFA trust through Silencer Shop, including non-relation responsible party. I did this independently from my suppressor purchase. Trust prep and review took slightly longer because I named a seemingly unusual beneficiary of the NFA trust (my family revocable trust, rather than a person) - but was pleased overall with the trust preparation. I bought through SS too, in early Dec but delayed submission to get the free stamp, and named the SOT that was most convenient to me. As it turned out, they had an arrangement with SS such that I did not have to pay the SOTs significant NFA transfer fee. Fist suppressor so no other experience to compare it with, and trust and can bought from same entity so can't speak to using the trust outside of its originator - but overall, would recommend. The gov took 36 days, which felt like forever, but it all worked out so I can't complain.

Is there anything that differentiates these trusts and companies other than their speed, price, and customer service? Like aside from perceived value, do any of them actually have any differences in delivered value? Ignoring the differences between an individual NFA item trust versus multi-item trust.

Ooooffff on my first trust from silencer shop or silencer co I can’t remember one of the big names.

I had to have 2 whiteness’s at the notary to get people off of it.
Was a major pain for me.

The trust I have now through Capital Armory is much easier to remove people.

How is the process to add and remove trustees with the silencer shop trust?

Bumping this one back up.
I was planning to and actually purchased a Silencer Shop unlimited trust. Come to find out when I get to my dealer it’s a major pain if you didn’t buy through Silencer Shop or a dealer that uses their kiosk for the transfer.

I like the ease of adding or removing individuals specific to each suppressor. That is what drew me to the one shot trust.

Anything else out there that is similar? I looked at the info for Gun Trust Guru listed above and it describes having this ability. I might call them Monday to see what the process is like

It is interesting you bring up having specific individuals ties to each item. Is that possible in a trust?

I'm looking in to trusts as well so tagging along for the ride.
How does the transfer work once you have a trust outside of a particular vendor?
I'm thinking of setting up a trust but am also reading up on the viability of a trust that holds all or most of my property. This is all new to me but it would be really nice to have one "entity" to hold all property including NFA items.

Yes quite a few, ease to add and remove people for example depending on how they're written. I used Jim Willi his background is in estate trusts and he customizes the trust to the situation rather than just cookie cutter one size fits all. He wrote the coolie cutter for gun trust guru I believe. He wouldn't sell me a trust without speaking on the phone first, talked for about a hour some chit chat but a little business. The end result is 100% confidence in my all things NFA situation and my family's ease of zero paperwork after I'm gone because everything's automatic.
