View attachment 1063253The 6-36x56 absolutely rocks. Took it out to 1400 and multiple ranges in between its tracking like a NF. Eye relief is much much more forgiving than my 4-32 NX8. Scope is brighter on 36x than the NX8 on 32x. For my use case on this rifle I love it. MOA C is a great reticle. From 15-28 it’s perfectly usable. Little large on the top end. Below 9x you better use the illumination on. All in all I’m very happy to have it. The real break in period will be in June shooting 3x matches with it.

I don't have a 2 -12.Im mounting a 3-18 now and the eye piece is 1.765.

I believe he means usable as in the subtensions are useable from 15x-36x, not that you can’t dial and aim below 15x.

Realistically for shooting PRS matches you could have like a 2x erector scope, 15-30x

I just went up and put my 6-36 MIL-C on a tripod and looked around a few hundred yards. I was surprised that I absolutely was able to use the reticle for wind on 6x if needed.

Can’t speak to PRS but for NRL I’ve had stages where I’ve given up on finding a target or two with my binos, get on the rifle and engage the targets I did find, and then with time left I stay in the rifle and start looking for the other targets. I start every stage on minimum magnification as the FOV helps me get on target when transitioning from binos to rifle.

Finding targets in the scope and changing magnification is a waste of time, setting the rifle in a position with the target in the scope on higher mag is a trainable skill

I would’ve been fine shooting a PRS match with a fixed 15x or 18x. I have never touched the magnification in a match.

I don’t doubt that, but why do you need such high magnification in the first place? Wouldn’t more FOV make finding those targets easier? I am admittedly completely ignorant as to what PRS is all about.

Spotting impacts. It is not possible to spot impacts and make corrections as precisely with low magnification. Resolving small, dirty targets.

Hmmm. This is counter intuitive to me. As a hunter, it is not possible to spot impacts and make quick corrections at high magnification.

As a hunter also, I disagree, it is a trainable skill. You can see more at high magnification if you have a low recoil rifle and can manage the recoil.

The guns in PRS do not recoil much at all. Not being able to spot your shot is a product of recoil and magnification. Less recoil, you can use more magnification. More magnification offers more precise shots and makes getting an exact spot on your misses.
