(I still seem to be the only guy around who fails to get a consistent bare shaft tune using the factory grip. So, I am thinking about shooting off of riser)

Would like to hear success or fail stories from people who do/attempted shoot some of the newer Hoyts (last three years) off of the riser instead of the factory grip.

Am I the only one that thinks this makes no sense at all?

Is this about shooting off the shelf of the bow or just using the factory grip?

I’ve been shooting last few off riser with tape wrap. Always like the flat thin riser , used to put side plates just went to tape wrap with my 8 . But might play with grip on 9 ultra.

I absolutely hated the vital point grip on my Ventum Pro, couldn't get consistent with it at all. tried sanding down 2 different Shrewd archery grips to get them to work (don't know if they finally decided to make an aftermarket for the vital point, but at that point they were only making grips for older Hoyt risers, pre Vital Point grip).

Finally wound up finding the grip from Total Peep, it is fantastic for me. Flat back, with the perfect amount of fimrness. I know this is an older thread but hopefully this helps others who struggle finding aftermarket grips for newer Hoyts.
