Les texted:

"haven't heard a peep or seen anything since 10 am Sunday morning. Rained from 5 pm last night until daylight. It's strangely quiet this morning. We're still grinding."

Finally quit raining and sun is out. Last day. Haven't heard anything since Sunday morning. Eerily quiet. All in aggressive today. Cut and run.

It's a liyearly to be overly aggressive.

Negative Les. Start lighting them up. We were seeing and hearing more hunters than I'm used to as well (all with their Primos bugles), and not seeing much happening. But Sunday night we had just busted a small herd that winded us and my 16yo daughter was dejected as the first elk she saw were running the other way. 30 minutes later, I lit it up and went aggressive. Got two responses and got one going. He sounded like a raghorn the first bugle, but came to life the more aggressive I got. By the end, we were absolutely going at it with full on raking and stomping, and breaking things, and grunting and he finally crossed in front of my daughter at 30 yards. She used a quick "eewwww" with her mouth to stop him and BOOM! I was about 150 yards behind her. Pic posted in the Elk Photo thread. So glad she got to experience a real elk rut hunt.

Get her done Hunter, make it happen Les.

We sit at the airport awaiting Hunters departure. As always we had a great time together. We only saw 2 elk on this trip and heard very few bugles. We did get an encounter with one of the elk. I'll tell the story when I get back to a computer. Lots of rain so it wasn't the hunt he was hoping for. I wouldn't trade the time for anything though. I'm sad to see him leave.

My last bit of service right now. About an hour and a half from the trailhead. Robby and Tanya will try to update. I will do Facebook updates as well.

Les has spoken:

"Very slow day 1 so far. 11 miles in and only one small bull bugling. Very hot and dry here. Les Welch"

Les: "I found them. In a big burn. Blow downs and steep nasty shit. They are dispersing and heading to bed. I'll sit back and put a plan together for tonight."

New Year "New Season"

Les: "Passed a good bull last night. Wouldn't have anywhere else. Called in a dragon bugler to 54 yards. He raked a tree broadside for 3 mins. No shot.
2+ hours to hike back in the dark last night. Got on him an hour before daylight this morning. Harassed/shadowed him until 10. Lost him. Quiet since."

Anyone know what "dragon bugler" means?
