Tainted for sure, but if he was pursuing that bull on public land and couldn’t seal the deal, then by this time of year it moves onto private land…what are you going to do eat your (enter large dollar figure here) tag and go home? I’d be door knocking too.
But like mentioned, don’t hide it. I think if it was explained like I had mentioned above then all of us hunters could relate to that scenario. Yes some may still carry a chip on our shoulder about it, but at least you know the full story. Seeing massive bulls on private wintering grounds is something a lot of people see.
