New Vortex Optics Release???

I want to say he answered this when the razor 65 came out, different focal length but same eyepiece. My guess is that's the reason.

Dot I meant sense the mag range is smaller than previous versions will it result in better optical quality. Normally less range means less compromises and better performance.

Old 85 20-60
New 85 27-60

Old 65 15-48
New 65 22-48

That's quite a reduction unless they are going to claim them as WA's

Anyone have any info about Vortex's release of new optics? In particular, I heard they are going to be releasing new spotting scopes, which is important because I am looking at buying a razor. I think there is some truth to the rumor... guys have claimed to have seen videos and cameralandny has marked down the current models significantly. Specifically, what is supposed to be coming out, when, and any info on changes/upgrades? If you've got a video link, post it. Thanks.

Where are you buying yours from? Cause I see the price as $1999.99 for the 27-60x85's MSRP

I bought the outgoing model, which they have discounted to $900 on their website. Cameraland does a good job with CS. I recommend them for purchasing glass.

It looks exactly like the new Meopro as well.

MeoPro 80 HD - American Built HD performance

Which basically looks like a design copy of the Swaro X series spotters.

If its as good as the Meopro, it should be a decent scope (initial reviews have been good online)

I have the new Meopro as well as the Razor HD 85mm. The Meopro destroys the Razor, it is not even close. I bought my Meopta using the military discount which was pretty good. Having glassed side by side with my buddies who have Swaro HD 80mm spotters, I've decided there is no way I would drop $2,500 on a spotting scope, the Meopta is that good. Speaking with Meopta, the Meopro has the exact same glass as the S2 - there are two differences. The S2 gets one more coating and the Meopta is assembled in the US.

Im a little disappointed to hear that, maybe I got a bad copy but the one I had was marginally better then the razor, if at all.
I got a really good deal on it as well, but ended up sending it back

We bought the Meopro and S2 and immediately returned the Meopro. It flat sucked. We called Meopta to ask if we had a bad sample and they told us that the Meopro wasn't as nice as the S2 and we shouldn't expect it to be. My S2 is nicer than the Razor series but honestly the Razor is an incredible scope for the money and holds its own very well. Between the Razors and the Meopro I've played with I would never have suggested the Meopro; I must have just received a bad sample.

The Meopro has the attached eyepiece, right? The S2 has a removeable piece?

Well I made myself cry and went swaro :)

Good for you! It was a good cry--and it's over with now....
Yep, these other players are fine glass, but not Swarovski (or Leica) glass. The difference side
-by-side with these alpha giants is obvious.
The Japanese Kowa prominar is another very worthy of consideration, especially their big 88mm if weight isn't a consideration.

I had this last gen 1 Razor HD, great scope/decent glass, but not top tier.

I've heard nothing but good things about the big Kowa scope, aside from the weight of it. Optically I keep hearing it doesn't give up anything to any of the other brands. It comes at a price though, once you hit that level in cost they're all going to be nice.

I too have the S2 with the 30-60 WA eyepiece and love it (minus the weight). I don't like the eyepiece however. When I screw it in or out to adjust the ocular setting for my eye, it just seems like it's chilling there loose. It's really easy to turn in and out from that point. I wish it had a lock of some kind. Unless I'm doing it wrong! I wouldn't mind a light weight spotter now for packing.

I just got the new Cableas "Optics" catalog and there are quite of few optics that Vortex and Cabelas have teamed up to produce a Cabelas brand product. Looks like a couple of different binoculars and a scope or two.

This is the Intrepid line for Cabela's. Solid fit between the Viper HD and Razor HD.
