I guess it all depends on what you're looking for? As mainly a bowhunter for elk & a rifle hunter for Muleys I like things simple. I don't want clutter on my rangefinder that would be confusing & I don't want to have to pay for something I'd never use. I like Angle Comps up or down & distance ranged, anything other than that it's like buying a GPS that has tons of bells & whistles but I never use any of those functions either. But that's just my needs.

I can understand your concerns though so I'd pick a different rangefinder that suited your needs! Thanks!

I really don't see a point to this rangefinder if it doesn't have ballistic calcs or temp/bara adjustments built in. Companies should be pushing boundaries with each release not just upping the yardage 500 yards. The only real contenders in the ranging handheld market to me are the Leica 1600B and the G7 BR2. The BR2 is so ridiculously over priced that as soon as Leica, Bushnell or another company adds the ability to do custom curves no one will buy it. My cousin has the BR2 and we both use it and love it but jeez, $1800 is nuts. All Leica has to do to their Rangmaster is make a removable chip for custom curves like the Geovid already has and it will outsell anything out there and be half the price of the G7. I am hoping SHOT has some new rangefinders introduced. Vortex is just killing me lately, I feel they have gotten complacent.
The downside in my mind for having a rangefinder that is an all in one is if something needs to get repaired I am out a whole setup. I can get by without one thing but add multiple things and I'm in rough shape. Adding more complex features to any item will just mean more things to go wrong. I understand the simplicity of an all in one unit, it's just not for everyone.

I've had my ranger for 4 years now and never had an issue, when we shoot 3D it consistently different than the other guys rangefinder but as long as I'm sighted in for mine who cares besides who knows which one is correct! I've shot with guys that paid a lot more for their rangefinder and they can't even figure out how to read the display. The ranger is simple which is perfect for me. If i thought I Had a use for a 1500 yard rangefinder I would take a good look at the Vortex.
