New Truck - Ford Raptor Or ?

Been loving my Silverado ZR2 for the past four years. Smooth riding, comfy and the locking front/rear diffs have been life savers. Firestone airbags and the 6.2L pulls like a dream.
The locking front and rear diffs are a huge selling point for me. I have a Rubicon Jeep and it's a tank in deep snow. Quite frustrating to sit there and watch one tire spin on an open diff vehicle.

Can’t speak for the Raptor as I don’t have one, but like others have said the extra width could be a concern and while I have no doubt it would preform flawlessly it is more designed for high speed off-road. Have you considered the f-150 Tremor? I have a ‘22 with the 3.5 and love it. All of the off-road tech (including locking diff and Torsen front end) of the Raptor but a happy medium between the Raptor and regular f-150. Plus if you want to tow anything the Tremor has more capacity.

I don't know a ton about the Tremor. Does it have the same live valve shocks as the raptor? I believe I looked before and it didn't....

Excellent suspension is my top priority.

It doesn’t but I believe they are different than a regular f150. It’s a pretty soft ride, I enjoy it.

Glad to see the ZR2 getting high marks. I’ve started saving for a replacement truck and considering the ZR2, primarily. Just kicking back and forth between the 2500 or the 1500.

I’m surprised no one has mentioned the Ram TRX. I’m a ford guy and have been for years but that truck with a hemi speaks to me. Despite my age I still like a deep exhaust and knowing I’m driving a V8 😂

I had this dilemma and wanted a 6.5 ft bed so I bought a lariat and did suspension and tire upgrade. It really covers everything I need. That said. Im thinking a raptor is my next rig if I can get one with the v8 in a year or two. If you haven't yet. Test drive it. They ride very nice on the road. The main appeal to me is a factory configured truck. I dont really enjoy the analysis that came with what tires/suspension, did it void a warranty, and all that. A truck is a tool to me, I dont want to tinker with it.

This was a trx a few years ago when my gf bought a new jeep.
Cost more than the hellcat in the show room

Going to need a new truck eventually. Considering a raptor. Live in Montana, tons of dirt roads, road to my house is a rutted up, washboarded, rocky, mostly unmaintained dirt road - I'm on it every day. We're almost always in the mountains driving rough roads for several hours each weekend too.

My main goal is to have a truck that I can drive on these rough roads with and not feel like the trucks gonna fall apart and my teeth are going to fall out and decrease travel time.

Don't really care about it being fast (would get the 6 cylinder with the 37" tire package and upgraded shocks) - incredibly slow compared to my other toys in reality.

The main question I have is is the raptor worth it? I'm thinking i might be able to buy a $60k truck and add $6k in suspension, winch, bumper, $2k in tires and be far shy of the $90k raptor price tag. Thoughts? I like the GMC half ton with the small diesel engine getting 27 mpg. What alternative truck would you choose and what upgrades? I don't want something small like a Tacoma.

Other considerations:

I'd use the truck in snow, which could be capable of burying it. Would add a which. Generally, how are raptors in the snow with deflated 37s? I don't want any low hanging plastic junk on it to get ripped off when it's buried in the snow.

Sounds like the automotive industry is being deregulated. I'd suspect better gas mileage and more power coming soon. Wonder how long it will take?

Thanks!
Another option would be the Ranger Raptor. My wife has one and it just soaks up anything you throw at it. If I didn’t have to pull a cattle trailer every now and then I’d be driving one too.
