For a person to get their money back would they be better off buying a nicer gun? Like a. 243 fluted barrel and wood stock for a couple hundred more. I can’t imagine the factory stocks sell for much at all.

Also SS vs Blue? I found a 7/08 blue for $550 TFFL also a used SS 6.5 with a fluted barrel for $750. Can’t decide which will get me into the action the cheapest.

Wood usually sells higher than the plastic.

If you only care about the action buy whatever is cheapest. If you have to spend a bit more for things you intend to use (threaded barrel, nicer wood stock or an adjustable stock like the super varmint, etc) then shop with those in mind.

You want the action correct? A wood stock will sell $100-150 more than a plastic, so don’t pay too much extra for wood.

A stainless barrel will sell a little higher than blued and a fluted stainless a bit more than regular. Probably talking $25-50 differences.
