Ordered a Tikka T3x 30-06 tonight to go with my 6.5 and 223 Tikkas.

I am using the upgraded trigger spring and alternate grip. Probably doing Talleys and Meopta scope.

Any other suggestions or factory ammo preferences???

My T3 in 30-06 is not picky at all. Really depends on what you are wanting to do with it, but it's hard to beat Hornady Whitetail, Federal Power Shock and Winchester Power Points. Mine shoots all 3 at <1MOA and they all work for deer and hogs.

I appreciate the feedback. This one will be geared for animals 350# and up.

Most accurate factory loads for me have been federal blue box 150gr

Handloads it’s very easy to load for

I’d get ahold of Jake at Unknown Munitions and have him load 155 Lapua Scenars in Lapua Brass and be done with it.

I bought some 223 from him recently that shot lights out. It was mirrored after another load so I knew it would shoot well.

Maybe a dumb question, but with a new gun don't I risk a handload still shooting so-so? If the odds are high that a regular ol' Tikka will like it then I'm ok with a small gamble.

I have the same gun with a burris eliminator II on it and shoot handloaded hornady 178 eldx and it shoots lights out to 700 yards. I do recommend putting a trigger spring in it, Macrbo is the one I put in and it dropped trigger pull to 2lbs on the nose

Thanks for the feedback. The eldx always shoot well but they weren't great killers out of my 308. They kill fine out of my 6.5CM. Maybe just a couple flukes

In that case, mine shoots 165 gr Accubonds and Partitions really well too.

I need to try these. Hoping to find some 165-180 grainers that will shoot tight.

Federal Power Shok 150's and Federal Fusion 150's both shoot great.

Barnes TTSX 150's spread out to around 2" groups.

i shoot the 155 scenars in my Tikka 30-06. They shoot extremely well and the BC is higher than published for my loads. I outshoot my buddy on steel with his 7RM (factory loads) at 600-700. Haven’t killed anything with them yet but they seem to have a good following in some circles.

While they aren't sexy high BC options I'd be willing to give any 180 SP that shot well a go for critters over 350 if shots were inside 400 yards, corelokt, powerpoint, blue box, Hornady and others. We see a lot of moose killed with simple cup and core 180's from the .30-06.

Thanks. The only 180's I've tried have been the cheap Winchester PP. I've never had good luck with anything Winchester. I'll try some Federal 180 since they're so easy to find

I am helping a buddy put together his first big game rifle. I am a Tikka fan and pointed him in that direction. T3x in 30-06.
He put a Leupold VX3i 4-14 on it with Talley rings. I suggested Federal blue box for the first few boxes in both 150 and 180 grain.
The 150's are doing 3/4 inch with three shots.
The 180's are 1/2 inch with three shots.
I wish I had gone with an '06 instead of 300WSM just for sake of cheap factory loads that flat out shoot.
