New Swarovski from Cabelas. They sent a display box.

To me it wouldn't matter if they came to your doorstep in perfect condition, YOU purchased in good faith a NEW pair of bino's ........ THEY sent you a DEMO pair at FULL price. That's a bit shady in my book, if you don't need them right away i would definitely be asking for a return and re-ship you a new pair. Cabelas has gone in the tank ever since Bass Pro sucked them up, personally i have no use for either of them .....but that's just me ...

I received a baitcasting reel as a Christmas gift this year - from Cabelas. The box had "display" written across the top of it in black sharpie. While it's "likely" not a big deal, the thought crossed my mind a couple of times about how many other people could have messed with the drag or tension and whether the reel would work properly. That reel was probably $125, so not a huge cost. I don't think I would settle for a demo/display model for $2k+ unless that was specifically what I ordered. (And, yes, I have purchased both brand new, used, and display/demo optics before, so that's not the issue.) I suppose the most concerning part is that you received something different than what you ordered.

That packing job would never have made it where I live. I’d have a busted out empty box and someone else would have some binos.

Those are sweet by the way. Enjoy. I wouldn’t send them back but I would ask for $$ back. I think Swaro is pretty backed up, probably all they had.

Label also says from bass pro shops returns. Wonder if this pair was previously returned? Weird because fedex shows picked up in Texas but this label says from Wisconsin. 6A3CB2FE-D6C3-439E-A60A-0D95091C4C0F.jpeg

I’ve bought several demo or display scopes from euro optic and they come with a pretty good discount. Demo or display is not new I would definitely ask for a discount.

That discount wouldn't be enough. If you are a card holder, a certain Tuesday of the month, can't remember which, they'll give you a 10% discount coupon off any one item. So, it's not like they are going out of their way here.

Appears Cabelas/BassPro is soon to be the next OpticsPlanet. No way I am keeping those. I would return them. I am done shopping at their stores. It's been a drastic decline since the buyout/merger.

No chance I would spend that much on binos and be ok with a display model unless it was discounted.

It definitely has declined since the merger. I already had bought 10% off gift cards before Christmas and then got another 10% off because club offer it’s usually a thursday, that’s the only reason I bought from them. With this refund for getting a display model I’m out of pocket 1678.15. Couldn’t buy used for that so I’m happy. If anything’s turns out to be wrong with them I’m sure Swarovski will work with me or at least I can pay to get them fixed.

If you paid retail give them a call, see what they'll do.
With my gift cards I bought for their Christmas deal of 10% off plus another 10% code when I bought the binos and now the 10% off for display model I ended up with 30%. What’s crazy is when I bought them cabelas had them listed for $2199 now they are $2399.

Well in that case, I would keep them.

That’s a good deal. I would be happy with that. Swaro will take care of you if anything is wrong.

That’s why I was bummed coming from vortex vipers I was looking forward to sexy new Swarovski. cabelas came through and gave me more off because I got the displays so I can’t complain anymore. Good customer service experience, except the fact they sold me a display model advertised as new in the first place.

Also what’s wrong with opticsplanet now? Bought my vipers and some eberlestock stuff from them and a vortex scope and everything was fine. This was back in 2018 though. Have they gone downhill? Almost bought a kowa 883 from them before I got my atx from gohunt in 2020.

Seems like a win to me. Honestly, display models have been taken care of. It’s not like they have been used and abused. You got a good set of glass at a damn good price. My NLs have seen more abuse in one day than than any display would see in a lifetime.

Everything is going to keep going up in price. I would count myself lucky for getting the display and getting what you got versus where pricing has gone and is heading.

If people only knew the amount of items that are purchased and returned and sold as new… who knows what has happened to them after they left the store.

In the end it sounds like you got a pretty good deal, however, sending you a demo pair was not a accident or oversight. They should have discounted them up front knowing they were demo glasses, instead you had to call them out on there shady business practices.

Just do a google search or forum search on here or in any gun related website and you’ll soon see. They sold me a “brand new” Elcan Spectr years ago that was clearly used and non functional. Advertise everything is in stock when it isn’t. Poor customer service. The list goes on.
