New Strings (needed) What to buy, where to source?

“During your bow overhaul, if you haven't done so, have you considered replacing cam bearings? They're cheap enough to do, that you might as well. Maybe pull the limbs and clean the pockets and apply a little white lithium grease to the limb pockets.”

I had not thought of that, but good advise. Thanks.

ABB is the easy button.

No matter who you buy them from - you want good CS and warranty! I like to get 2 years out of a set if I can, but I’ve never got more than that. ABB has always sent me free replacements if they show excessive wear prior to warranty ending.

Pro tip - measure them before you put them on!

I've tried a lot of aftermarket strings on several different bows, but America's Best have been the ONLY ones that I put on and everything is exactly to my bow spec measurements. They cost more, but they're worth it to me. A few months back they had a 50% off sale on their pre-made string sets, so I picked up a set to have on hand.

I'd be happy to take care of you. I use only bloodline vec 99 or revelation 99.

Our turnaround times are quick and my strings don't leave the shop unless they are perfect.

My last 2 sets have had real bad serving separation issues; you getting that on any of your strings? My Gas strings also had real bad serving separation, so maybe it's not just an ABB thing.

I had a set of Vapor Trails that aged way too fast for my liking and they didn't seem too concerned when I asked them about it.
New set is Gas and the broadhead tune was the easiest ever.
Straight6 Archery in Missoula was very good to me.

The usual suspects are

Catfish customs- best option for vec99 if you want to try that material. Used for a season, but sold the bow.

Jbk - good maker who has lots of experience but less options in material. I used his strings for 3 years.

Gas -Ghost XV has been hassle free for me 4 years experience.

60x- Used for 2 seasons. No issues.

They all stand behind their strings and have good attention to detail.

You can even call ahead to ask about serving diameter to match your preferred nock. Gas has done that for me.

Bowtech?

The amount of bend the cams put on the cables are very prone to serving separation.

Shouldn't happen, just saying it does make it difficult. Anyone selling the strings should know which ones are problems.

I've been using ABB Platinum strings for several years on Hoyt and Mathews bows. Never had an issue! Just received a new set of ABB Launch series strings/cables for my Lift 29.5 and they look perfect as usual. Hoping to install them in the next couple of weeks and keep the Match strings for backup on my elk hunt.

Another vote for Johns customs bow strings. I've had a couple sets of his and they were all excellent. He also has great communication. He quickly replaced a cable I had damaged during my install. I won't go with anyone else

Gas Ghost gets my vote. Didnt have good customer service with them 3-4 years ago which I think was an anomoly. But I ordered a second set a couple months ago after trying different brands the last couple years.
